New Additions

Unread post by jeff-carolina » Sun Nov 01, 2015 1:12 am

Hi All,
I have added a couple new additions to the arsenal I would like to share. However after I got the photo re-sized to post I realized I forgot to include the SG-1300TS in the picture. It is a super nice playing guitar as well. (Soon to be included) The rose-burst Weddington has become my daily player and is such a sweet guitar to play and has a fantastic sound and sustain.
From left to right.....Roseburst Weddington Custom, Cherry Weddington Custom, SE-350, AES-820, AES-800, on Ground Alchemy Skull head

Jeff

Wow Jeff, great Yamaha guitar collection. ((i)) (Y) :D
When you have the time, show the entire collection, including those that left, and those you may get in the future.

Our forum is becoming a GREAT source for finding different Yamaha guitar models. ((i)) :!:

Do you still have your AES-720 and does it sound close to the AES-820 ?
They look the same to me apart from the 820 head offering the strings STRAIGHT from the tuners to the nut.

This head design seems to be a VERY good idea, ((i)) especially compared to the sharp angles used on some Jackson guitars,
rubbing (and filing) the sides of the nut, expanding the grooves, wearing the nut out much faster.

Keep 'em coming :!:

Regards
Peter

Thank-You guys.
I still have the 720 and it is one of my favorite sounding guitars. I took Bill's advice and strung it with 10's and it has a very deep beefy tone. The 820 has a completely different sound, even though it will growl. The tone knob is a 3 position switch that will put pickups in humbucker, single coil, or bring in the circuit board (internal) that has a control pot on it that can be adjusted within a range to allow you to further sculpt the sound to ones liking. (I have not adjusted as it sounds good the way it is) I thought the AES 800 would be similar in sound but with more variations (with the series parallel switching) but it has a much brighter tone. I also like the fact the strings go straight to the tuners as there is less stress on the nut, neck-head stock area. These were special made for Yamaha by Sperzel and would probably be a hard to find item if one got damaged. All in all though, it is a very nice sounding and playing guitar.
The guitars I'm really enjoying are the Weddingtons, they are truly a beautiful looking and playing guitar.
I will try to break out with the closet queens for some photos here in the near future!! Enclosed is the picture of the forgotten SBG 1300TS (forgot there was a "G" added to this as it was an export only model) http://forum.japanaxe.com/phpBB3/viewto ... =25&t=2911

Jeff
Love the Weddingtons. One of them will follow me home at some point. If they sound half as good as they look I'll be happy.

I would like to Thank Peter AKA: Buzzard for his Technical expertise as he is the only source of information, IMO concerning this guitar to be found on the internet.

I have been away just short of 2 weeks and had this arrive today. This is out of the box and tuned and played to try out. It needs some minor work and cleaning to get it to my liking but it is a super sounding guitar. It is the plain Jane Weddington special, anything but plain though. It sounds good clean as well as dirty and has a voice that is different than the Weddington custom, but very nice! An awesome HNGD indeed.
