SA30

Unread post by hypercarrots » Tue Feb 07, 2017 3:02 am

here are my 2 SA30s.

67 SA30
this one's missing the tremolo and pickguard bracket. i have the pickguard, i just can't attach it.

69 SA30

i also have the original trapezoid shaped case.

i have 2 because... i don't know why... but i'd like an SA50 to go with this

i do prefer necks with binding and inlays. the yamaha logo on the headstock being inlay vs gold paint is a nice touch too.

Your guitars get high score for awesomeness. :D ((i))

Id like to see the trapezoid shaped case, if you have pictures.

Love the burst finishes. A nice pair. Hope you find a 50 to match.

I still find it very, very weird, these painted f holes. What were they thinking? Reducing feedback? But why paint them if so.

I think TheSupposedStringMeister is the real expert on painted f holes. Let's see if he chimes in.

That guy contacted me first a short while a go with the usual questions.... He bought it for $12 or so back in 1977... I tell him a bit more including that I have only seen 2 other SA30s with painted F holes (as per my website).... Next minute it is on Reverb as such a rare guitar and it isn't his thing.
Reality will soon set in I suppose.

On the painted F holes.. why not? Gretsch was doing it. Makes sense if you want to reduce costs and feedback.

Somehow I missed this thread. Those SA30's are nice. And don't be sorry for having 2, I have 3 SA30s. Two restored as per my website and one 'hidden' away in the closet as it is such a beauty.
