Very nice Peter.
I have had my 1500B for 3 or 4 years now. I really like it. Japanese. My 80B is definitely from Taiwan and by ,strange coincidence , just about the time of your original post I got a 620 in faded burst ( or as the translator used to say Fay Dead Burst).
Thanks for all your work putting this together.

Thanks George.

Feel free to show you AES models in this topic, or even better, have your own "My guitars" topic, and have the link in your signature.
This way, it will be so much easier to see you guitar roster when looking for advise or any other questions about your gear.

Regards
Peter

Yes I guess I should do that but you will note I have no signature line at all. I'm guessing that somehow in my profile I could add a sig. Does your link connect to your computer?

Great job and above all brings the AES to people's attention. Some lovely guitars in the range and I was not really aware of them until this thread.

Better late than never, :(

I'm sorry Geroge, I totally overlooked your post.

Signatures are added in your profile.
The link to my guitars is just a direct link to my guitar topic here on yamahamusicians.com

Feel free to get back to this matter or to get help. :D

Hi All,

I am pleased to find this forum!

I recently purchased an AES920 HB with original case, sn QKP078F for $990 CDN. I bought it from the original owner, who said he picked it up new on sale in 2012-13. It has a bit of scratching on the pickup covers and a few dents in the finish on the back. Otherwise in perfect condition, best I can tell - a beautiful instrument. I found an original generic Yamaha owners manual in the case storage compartment - not a single reference to an AES model in it. According to serial number information available online this guitar was the 78th made in "Japan Custom Shop" in September 2004. Looks like a low production model.

Thank you for making me feel welcome!

Here is a link to photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/9h2Az8b1T9L5fnqt8 (couldn't figure out how to upload and attach files. I hope this link works). Sorry about the dust. I'll repost pictures after a more thorough cleaning.

So far I've spent a couple of hours practicing with the 920. I've found it comfortably playable with only a brief tuning with my snark. The pots, switch and jack are all first class, as is the nut and tuners. I found the feel of the 13.5" radius neck to be immediately apparent - a pleasant surprise as all of my other guitars are 12" radius, and I am a bit fat fingered. Overall it feels solid, and while heavy (9.6 lbs), with my cushioned levy strap it is comfortable. The audio range is unusually wide and level when played unamplified - good for practicing without annoying the missus. I'll say more about amplified performance after I put a new set of strings on it and do a bit of a setup. It needs a smidgen of relief.

I love the looks - at first I worried that I might have paid too much, but now I don't care. Based on appearance and playability (so far) to me it is the equal of new Gibson LP's costing twice as much.

Keith

Hi Keith.

I have taken the liberty to add your pictures to your post.
As for the dust, I was thinking: what dust ?
We are always happy to see pictures, and we don't mint if it isn't studio quality.
