It's not the only forum to be massively spammed today, Michael. :(

I've just been over to the MMA forum (www.midi.org), where I'm also a moderator, and spent some considerable time cleaning up the forum which had been flooded with messages using chinese symbols. I reckon something like more than six dozen messages split between two users. :x
The Yamaha synth forum is suffering from this as well. Mostly Japanese and then a university name in English

That's one of the main complaints about yamahasynth.com they don't allow members to message each other. That and the rather cumbersome interface of course. Then there are the restrictions on what you can and can't post.

I did contact Yamaha this morning, as a courtesy to let them know about the spamming and it seems they have cleared most if not all of the spam although as they seem to have no way to quickly deal with it I have no doubt it will be back soon.

Just for reference one of the admins/moderators is called Amy Nedoss, although apparently she was last online 23 hours ago so I doubt she had anything to do with todays clean up.

Apparently my question ran afoul of the moderator's opinion regarding what is allowable in the YamahaSynth.com forum. Was my question too stupid? Did my mention of "another forum" (which I did not name) cause offense? Is it not allowed for me to give my activation key for Cubase AI to another person, even though it will otherwise never be used and will just go to waste? I have no idea.
As far as I am aware Yamaha definitely do no encourage the passing of activation keys from one user to another. This is because Cubase Ai is given away with a NEW keyboard or desktop mixer etc and it's part of the sales pitch so if someone can get it without purchasing a new bit of kit it might encourage people to purchase a better value for money used product instead.

My own opinion is that Cubase Ai is no better than the other free DAW's out there that DO NOT require the purchase of any new hardware. I'm thinking here about Mackie Tracktion and Reaper but I am sure there are others. I wouldn't include Presonus Studio One Prime because although it is indeed free it doesn't support VST's, you need to upgrade to the paid 'Artist' version for that.

Cubase Ai doesn't even run properly on my iMac and despite numerous attempts by Steinberg techs to get it running it has proved too problematic so I have now ditched it for good.

It's happened 3 times in the past five days, and the spam will run many pages deep.

I agree it is one of the most cumbersome forums to navigate/use, and then they have their own "internal Yamaha Troll", who is one of the most condescending people I have come across (shame as when I was setting up my PLG15-AN in my Motif ES and was asking questions on Motifator, he was most helpful). I have been flamed for daring to make constructive criticism on what is a mostly fine synth (Montage), which could be improved. If I spoke to my Customers like that, I would be sacked.

My main issue with Montage is you cannot grammaticality select a set list via external MIDI command, ad that is what I dared to suggest. You can select set list bank/slots via MIDI but not specific set lists. When I said I want a set list for each band I am in, I was told that I do not understand how the Montage worksm, and surely I can sub divide a set list up into smaller set lists? I said it is logical to assume that if you have a number of set lists available, then you would like one for each band, which is how I have set things up, and it would be nice to have it selectable via MIDI command (via Cantabile in my case). You can do it on the Kronos, but not the Montage. Yeah, sure as part of gig setup, I can select the right right set list from the Montage Touch screen, but if I can program things in one place (Cantabile on PC), then it is one less thing to forget.

Well that's the thing Derek. What on earth is the harm in asking the question and posing it as a future improvement? But no, they all throw their toys out of the pram and take it as a personal insult. It's the worst sort of forum to be on because you simply cannot offer any sort of constructive criticism. Trying to shut people down like that does not put the company in a good light and it's about time they understood that. And by the way I totally agree with you about the set list thing ;)

Identical to what's happening at the MMA. It was back again this morning.
I seem to be the only one bothered to expend some effort in clearing up the mess!
It'll probably be the same again tomorrow. :x
