E! Grey Matter DX7 II FD SYSTEM DISKS

Unread post by 33vriem33@gmail.com »

Hello Everyone,

I am the very happy new (we'll back from preposterous times when I was already very lucky to have one!!!! :D ) owner-carer of a DX7 II FD E! GREY LATTER EXPANDED Beauty.

I just have a little problem: I need to acquire or buy the system disk both from the original beast itself from Yamaha at the time of release (including some patches) as well as the system disk from Grey Matter.

Could anyone provide me or sell me the relevant disks and patches if applicable?

THXVM in advance and KR2EV1

Nicolas

Nicolas,

I can provide you with the Grey Matter patch discs for your E! board but I don't think I have any disks for the DX7II itself. I will PM you later today with some download links for the E! discs and manuals in PDF format.

Cheers,
Rawl

Hello fellow DX fans !

Bringing this thread back again, Im also looking for the DX7II Grey matter E demo disk files in sysex format. Ive recently replaced the internal battery in my DX7IIFD with E! and loaded all E banks via midi sysex. Just looking to load up the sequencer data from the original data disks to get this beauty back to its full former glory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig.

Hi, I have seen your posts and joined site- hope you can help me guys! I have problem with loading patches after changing battery on DX7 IID ie without Floppy disk. I have original ROM cartridge DX7 II and cartridge nr 4. I can se patches on cartridge but no sound coming on line out nor on headphones!
I tried to copy from cartridge to E! card and seems I manage to fill 2 banks but still no sound coming out.

My next plan is now to use PC with midi cables to transfer system file for E! card and then patches.
How to initialize E! card, where to find system file for E! card?

Which midi program can I use to initiate gray matter E card and load patches on my DX7 IID???
Please help!!!
Appreciate if instead of sending PM you can give info with links here so that new members with same issue does not have to ask again

Hi Alex71,

welcome to the Yamaha Musicians forum (Y)

The thing is: I own a DX7II/D (without floppy drive) in a 'nearly factory state' - which means it is fitted with NO extension card whatsoever! Therefor I can't be of much help in this regard... but DO check your PM's...

Re the DX is not sounding: please try to find out if the Local function has been set to OFF. If that's the case the synth is ONLY transmitting Midi informations (MIDI Out) whereas the internal sound generation is disabled! So - IF the Local function is set to OFF, please set it to ON and see if the DX is sounding now... Please refer to page 93 of the user manual - 3. Local Control and/or check page 117 of the E! manual.

Thanks for such a warm welcome Miks and others! Anyone to suggest MIDI program (DX Manager, etc?) to use on PC Win10 to transfer E! card sysex data and patches?
Your support and help is greatly appreciated! I will try to contribute to all I have and know :)
