Thanks for such a warm welcome Miks and others! Anyone to suggest MIDI program (DX Manager, etc?) to use on PC Win10 to transfer E! card sysex data and patches?

I think MIDI-Ox should do the trick... and it's free

Miks, You've been a treasure to several like me on the board, so I wonder if I can trouble you once again? I have acquired a DX7II-FD with E! Grey Matter board from a friend. It has a floppy from 1990 in working order with some patches, but no system disks. Can you please work magic on this for me?

Regards,
Tom

DX7II w/ e! produces no sound

Unread post by Gtron »

Have a DX7II w/ e! Changed the battery. Turned local to on. Install rom cartridge. Produces no sound till I messed with it. Now I get a crazy sample and hold type garbled sounds. Any ideas on how to fix?

Hi Gtron,

welcome to the forum! (Y)

Did you try to initialize your E! equipped DX7 like described in the installation manual - chapter 9?

Sorry for reviving this thread again!

I'm in the same boat as a few of the other members, just got a Dx7iiFD w/ E! and I need to
give it the old reboot and restore. What files do I need to get it back to a vanilla state, and what program do y'all recommend to transfer those files?

Thanks in advance, and a big high five to the person(s) who can help me out. :D

Sorry for the double post but this thread seems more busy :)
I just aquired a DX7 IIFD.

On the side it has a GREY Matter logo? I'm assuming GREY matter hardware is installed but I'm not 100%. I had to change the battery - so I'm assuming during the battery change I may have lost drivers for grey matter? I don't see any options of it's engines in the menus? Should I open up and see if it's there still? I'm also thinking I may need the drivers for the grey the matter chip? I don't have access to floppy disks... anyway to install those drivers using midi cables?

Thanks

Hello Miks! I just bought a DX7IIFD E! ... The card E! is recognized, but many of the menus and presets appear with inverted characters and symbols "Chinese" ... On the other hand, I try to format a flippie with the unit (720k) and the DX is blocked.
The seller did not give me the floppie and I need either the images or the syssex files.
Very thankful!
