Unread post by Juliaan » Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:37 pm

Hello to all wx users. Is there someone who own the repair manual for the yamaha wx7? I have some troubles, becuase after ten minutes if playing the wx7 stops working for 1-2 days. Also i have the gain to max level.... I think it could be a pressure sensor, but before buying it i wanted to read the service manual in pdf. Help is appreciated. Thank you

That's a tough one .....

Here's the user manual:  http://mybreathmymusic.com/wp-content/u ... nglish.pdf

Unless you want to buy the service manual online, or taking a risk from some of the dodgy download sites,
I strongly recommend that you contact your local/regional Yamaha customer service, they usually help out for free.

I have a pdf copy of the WX7 service manual from when I diagnosed and replaced the capacitors in mine to get the WX interface working a couple of years ago. It doesn't appear possible to post it here, and I'm worried that I wouldn't be permitted to. Is there something I can help you with?

What a great service! :-)
This gives me hope that my question might be answered here too: I'm living in Germany and my third WX 7 isn't reliable any longer. So I got three instruments that need technical service. What can I do?

Folks. Sorry I haven’t been on here for a while and got around to uploading. If anyone has any specific requests I can try to provide an image of whatever page you need.

Cloud burst - I have a wx7 with a single key E that sticks - When I put one drop of liquid wrench at the corners of the pivot where it attaches to
the body, and work it a few times it is fine. Do you have a page that relates to the attachment rail for the keys? Or maybe some liquid silicon?

Thanks - Michael Goyette

The service manual contains the following, relevant to this:
- Exploded diagram.
- Part numbers for shaft, key post and key
- A service bulletin which describes how in the lower section, dropping the instrument can cause a rib to break, allowing the lower switch board to slide down inside the instrument with the result that certain keys in the lower section do not take effect unless they are pressed firmly. The fix is an additional bracket which can be installed inside the lower section in order to hold the lower switch board in place.

Your issue doesn't sound the same - the E key is simply sticky. I think from memory the keys and posts (spacers) can be moved slightly along the shaft if teased gently. Perhaps something is wedging the movement very slightly?

Hi everyone. First time posting. My WX7 finally broke after 20 years. And just after I started using it again. I broke one of the keys. The 6th one down on the left hand. I tried regluing it, but it failed because I couldn't take it off to clamp it properly... because I was scared to remove the screw in case everything fell off. if CB or someone could post a picture or instructions on how to remove it, I'd really appreciate it. And if anyone has experience on how to best glue it, I'd appreciate it as well. I'd love to get a copy of the manual. If anyone had pictures, I'd be happy to wrap it all up into a PDF and post it on line (I work at a school and have infinite online storage). Very happy to have found this site, and I hope it helps me to keep my WX7 running for years to come.

If you”re referring to the C / Low B key, then the part number is VD440700.

I'm so glad to see this thread is still reasonably active. My BT7 works with batteries - barely, due to significant corrosion - but not at all with the power supply. I've been wondering if I can bypass the corroded piece with something to possibly get the AC power working again.

Hi BD, welcome to yamahamusicians.com :)

I can see that the BT7 is an expensive thing to replace so it's understandable why you are looking to get around the mains power issue. You have to be very careful with these things though. You need to actually find out why the power is not working.

The first thing I would be looking at is the PA-3 AC adapter as it is often these types of adapter that fail not the thing they are powering.

Have you checked the voltage coming out of the PA-3? See if your getting a steady 12v dc. Eliminate that as an issue first before looking at the BT7 itself.

GOOD advice there from <Saul> . . . . .

If the PSU is giving a nice steady 12v, the next place I'd look is that DC-IN Socket.

The internal surround look kinda "Brown" . . . .

It's almost certainly a pcb-mounted socket. That, and the Plug are standard parts, and I would be of a mind to

change both, while you are "at it" . . .

(Changing the socket will also (obviously) refresh the soldering to the pcb)

It is very important to get the correct size Plug for the socket.

Both the DIAMETER of the "Hole" and the DIAMETER of the PIN are important.

The LENGTH of the plug can be longer, but NOT shorter than required . . . .

Your original socket may respond to cleaning, but if it is at all corroded, rather than just an

accumulation of the "Dust and tarnish of Years" - I would replace it . . .

perhaps that helps?
