midi remixing levels?

Unread post by jamtrax » Fri Aug 25, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi, I've just purchased a Tyros 5 and completed a couple of midi projects. On playback I found several of the channels too loud and using the mixer lowered the levels and "saved", but when I play the song back all the levels revert back to what they were. I have searched on the internet and tried typing "midi levels remixing" on here but no luck hence the post. I've also looked at the "song creator" and that only allows me to transpose channels and bounce in/out but not volumes. Any help would be appreciated . Also re-read the manual and searched youtube with no help either. I know I'm missing something and don't want to re-record all the parts again Thanks!

Not familiar with the Tyros Line myself, but I can't believe this can't be done . . .

perhaps there is something in this link that may help?

https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index ... #msg218805

Perhaps you can export the midi file - alter the values in an external editor and re-import.

The T5 is a flagship board, so IMO you should NOT need to do this . . .

NB, the REFERENCE Manual may contain stuff NOT found in the User Guide . . . .

Hi and thanks for your input. I have both reference and user manuals and nothing is mentioned about mixing the midi levels in either unfortunately, only how to record and save. I'm just going to experiment and see what I can figure out using superior logic! lol

It really beggars belief, that

1) It's set so WRONG to start with, and
2) You cannot then adjust it . . .

Is there no facility to edit the "event list" within the Tyros?

Or is it perhaps hidden away at the bottom of one of the menu pages - a check box that needs selecting BEFORE saving,

perhaps, (that might open another page)?

Might be worth enquiring here: http://www.thelonearrangers.com/index2.php

I'm an occasional visitor there - They seem to have an inordinately LARGE number of Tyros users there -

that may have come across this annoying little "feature"?

Hi again, ok. I've solved it and to save others the pain of mixing here's how to do it!
1. Record your song and try to get the levels right first time If possible as you cannot remix at this stage. Save as normal. Next, to adjust volumes;-
1. Select your midi song.
2. Now click on Creator button
3. You now have 3 options; select "Song creator"
4. Again you have several options, choose "Channel"
5. Again more options; press button B to scroll down to "Select" option
6. Once on this screen scroll down to the bottom and tick on volume option.
7. Now open "Mix console" and scroll through 'till you see 1-16 midi channels page.
8. Adjust mixer levels as desired.
9. Press EXIT and go back to previous menu.
10. Press button D " Execute".
11. Now press "Save"
12. Now another window opens prompting to save again. Click this also and check song name. You will be prompted
to overwrite. Select yes and save.
..and that's how to alter the volume. If this is still not right then repeat as needed! lol
