use a metronome

Nothing wrong with your playing skills Rick, and nice Synth voicings . . . . . but you need to "latch on" to the drum tempo better . . .

You tend to be hurrying, and getting ahead of the beat.

I would suggest practicing it with the tempo slowed down a bit 'til you get comfortable with how the song goes, and where the pauses are.

<hypercarrots> is right though . . . . try it WITH the metronome active - and follow the beat RELIGIOUSLY . . . . :wink:

You'll get there . . .

When I first started playing guitar, a friend told me I needed to practice with a metronome. At first it was confining (and the tick-tock was annoying). It was hard stay inside the rhythm, but before long it became internal, automatic. Eventually you just naturally play in time. And it doesn't cramp emotional expression. Your keys have a really sweet sound and you show a lot of potential. Maybe a heavier drumbeat would be good, just for practice.
