yamaha e-313

Unread post by Eyespy900 » Sun Sep 20, 2015 12:34 pm

hello everyone.

i have purchased the Yamaha e-313 keyboard. i am trying to transfer a midi file from my computer to the keyboard using musicsoft down loader.

i have also purchased a USB-midi lead made by alesis. i am getting the ok in the judge and the computer tells me that the keyboard is successfully connected to the keyboard.

the problem i have is when i select a file to send to the keyboard. it looks like it is going to work. the name of the song appears on the keyboard display and after about 5 seconds i get an error message on the keyboard screen saying flash error and on the computer is says the operation has been cancelled, please try again.

i have tried 10 or so different midi files with out success. any help would be gratefully appreciated. thanks

 Does your computer have a 64-bit processor and OS?

If so, see if you can get access to a 32-bit computer, laptop, or tablet to try with the PSR-E313 and see if the problem still occurs.

I have a YPT-400, which is identical to a PSR-E403. The PSR-E403/YPT-400 came out just one year before the PSR-E313, so I assume their processors are similar, if not identical. My 64-bit Windows computers simply will not recognize my YPT-400-- or rather, they can tell that it's connected but they say there's no suitable driver installed for it, and Yamaha's USB-MIDI driver for 64-bit Windows won't even recognize that it's there. Yet my YPT-400 works perfectly with my 32-bit iPad 2 using Yamaha's MusicSoft Manager app.

If you do indeed have a 64-bit computer and OS, I suspect that this is what's causing the problem, as opposed to a fault with the PSR-E313's flash memory.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have 2 laptops. 1 is 64 bit windows 10 and 1 32bit windows xp.

I have managed to get musicsoft downloaded successfully connected to the keyboard using both laptops. Unfortunately I get the same flash error with both laptops. So this leads me to think that it is the keyboard that is causing my problems. I will need to upgrade my instrument I think. I am thinking either e443 or s650. Both are in my price range. Many thanks

I'm sorry to hear that the PSR-E313 refuses to work, but I don't think you'll regret upgrading to a PSR-E443 or PSR-S650. The PSR-S650 would be superior to the PSR-E443 if it's in your price range, but the PSR-S670 (which replaces the PSR-S650) would be even better-- it should be about the same price as a "new" (unused) PSR-S650, although you might be able to find a good bargain on a used PSR-S650, and the new PSR-S*70 models might still be difficult to find in some areas. The PSR-S670 has more polyphony than the PSR-S650, as well as other improvements.
