SY35 Test mode

press cursor < > and voice buttons while turning power on

Use Number/multi part select and bank select to select the test mode you want.

Number/Multipart select 1 LED check
Number/Multipart select 2 LCD check
Number/Multipart select 3 Panel switch check
Number/Multipart select 4 AD check
Number/Multipart select 5 card read write check
Number/Multipart select 6 reverb check
Number/Multipart select 7 sound output left check
Number/Multipart select 8 sound output right check
Bank select 1: ROM check
Bank select 3: RAM check
Bank select 4: Initialization

4. AD check
move following contollers and check value range on LCD is from 00 to 127
Pitch bend, Mod wheels, after touch, vector

7 sound output check
check a sine wave of pitch A3 is output from either channel
(output L - 13+/-dBm, Output Right less that 63dBm Phones (L) -2+/-3dBm)
test 8 is opposite values to left test.

exit test mode by pressing demo button.

No battery test on SY35 test mode, this is done with a multimeter.

How is that done? Does one have to disassemble the SY?

Disassemble only as far as taking off the bottom cover.
and test the battery in the usual way, with SY power off red wire of multimeter to battery positive and black to negative.
I'll add some photos later if that helps :-)

edit: some pictures .... using an SY77 board for example

remove the bottom cover to SY35, somewhere on the main board will be a
coin battery with the yellow edge on it, as in picture below.

Red probe to the top of the battery (which is +ve) black probe can go on any of the ground
points on the board like in the photo below, one of the screw mounts with a metal tab.
a new battery will show 3.2v if meter shows less than 1v id change it soon.

BTW this is still the original battery as far I can see, there is no sign of it being replaced
from the joints on the opposite side of the board, unless the tech/owner before me has godlike soldering skills :-D
