Playing along with downloaded mini files

Unread post by senorpopeye » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:32 pm

New Yamaha PSR- S550

I have downloaded some mini files to my keyboard. They play fine, My question is can I play along with the files as they are playing? I try to play a melody on right side of keyboard but can barely hear it.

I have tried find some reference to this in the manual and have tried some things but to no avail. Can the voice volume be turned up somehow to hear what I am playing while midi is playing?

Maybe I play so bad, it does not want anyone to hear.

PS One more question later.

Hey Bill,
You should be able to set up a performance or split that will allow you to do this, but most of these keyboards are a little different from each other in how it's done. On my SY77 the files can have up to 16 tracks/channels and I can select which one I want to be the active one for playing by setting up a performance in the edit mode, adjust the volume for each "part" or instrument, and then saving that performance. I just downloaded the PSR S550 owner's manual and took a look, page 60 Style Volume, page 68 Part Settings, page 77 Favorite Panel Settings may help you to solve your issue, some ideas to start from anyway.

What you need to do is press the button marked 'function' the screen will change to one showing all the settings one by one. Press the 'category' buttons <or> until you come to the volume setting. Then you can turn it up by turning the main dial. There is another volume setting here for the main song so you could even turn that down if you wish, then raise the all with the volume knob on the left....Dagman

That's weird Hektor36, your message wasn't here until I posted. Sorry for repeating your suggestion!
