yet another display replacement (i.e power supply for +5volt)

Yamaha SY77 is a 16 voice multitimbral music workstation first produced by Yamaha Corporation in 1989. The SY77 is a synthesizer whose architecture combines AFM (Advanced Frequency Modulation) synthesis, AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) for ROM-borne sample-based synthesis, and the combination of these two methods christened Realtime Convolution and Modulation Synthesis (RCM).

yet another display replacement (i.e power supply for +5volt)

Unread post by ledan » Thu Aug 09, 2018 7:35 pm

Hi,

Planning to take the leap this weekend for my TG77 (as i did for my Sy77 eons ago, but where i can't remember the steps anymore  )

Im i right to assume that i will take away the 2-pin power connector from the CN506 (from the inverter board. Or rather desolder it) and instead solder it onto the CN605 position to get the +5 volt needed for the BuyDisplay lcd?

(plus all the other things needed such as adding a VR for the backlight, etc as mentioned in the guides)

Hi,

Details of what I did to my TGG, and where picked up the power, can be found here. I have no time right now to check the detail, but hopefully that will help you.

Good luck!

Your 10d solution with CN118 looks nice. I doubt if I could reuse the old wires though, they will be too short – my display only has power ins on the opposite side of the pcb to the 20 pin ribbon connector.

Would it be possible to fit the connector that goes into the CN118 with new, longer, wires, or is it easier to just solder extensions to the old ones?
