You're right Sonus 8O

I know this site for a long time but didn't notice that there is a 1.30 version of the Seq. ROM.

Count me in for the hunt

I've never seen a 1.30 Seq ROM in the wild, so as Miks suggested, maybe a typo on that website given there is no entry for release date.

Anyone on this thread/forum actually have the 1.30 Sequence ROM in their SY99?

Hmmm - but on sy99.com they mention this:
Seq-ROM v1.1 to v1.2 :

During Pattern (PTN) recording, "PTN REC CANCEL" (SHIFT+STOP)-function does not work with one of the mode buttons pressed (VOICE,MULTI and UTILITY).

Seq-ROM v1.2 to v1.3 :

When the entire length of a pattern was set for pattern-record and realtime recording (so it was not affected by the quantize value), it sometimes performed incorrectly and became impossible to operate.
Example: 3/16 time, measure 1, quantize 1/4. 1/4 time, measure 1, quantize 1/2.
Therefore, if the above settings were used, the quantize value was automatically decreased and made recording possible.
Only Seq-ROM can be upgraded here...
Seems as if there must be a 1.30 version somewhere... 8O

You just never know -- they may have documented & fixed the bug, but it's possible none or few went out -- remember Yamaha only sent out the upgrades as purchased/requested and if no units from late in production shipped from the factory with it installed it could be verrrrry rare.

Manny

BTW -- just for fun I did confirm the bug is present in SeqROM 1.20

Shouldn't they at least have the ROM image still in their archives?
Maybe Dusty Miller can find it?

I don't think that Yamaha would 'set them free' even if they'll find it somewhere... remember the troubles we had with the EX5 firmware update - Yamaha wasn't very helpful at all... and I doubt the reason was they couldn't find the binaries 'lying around somewhere in a drawer'...

The post mentioned above was made by yours truly back when I had a different member ID on this forum. I had forgotten about this one, lost the password, whatever. By the time I re-joined this forum I had already posted various upgrades for the EX5R on ex5tech.com and thus I created a new account here under the same ID I had on the other site. The information I got by Yamaha at the time was accurate.

Does Yamaha have that file somewhere and they could post it for those that have the means to burn it? Absolutely. Are they going to? That has about the same possibility of happening as the second appearance of Christ taking place tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

one of my SY99s has 1.57 and the 1.30 Sequencer ROM. If anyone wants to extract the Seq ROM, tell me how I can help.

I am still looking to upgrade my remaining SY99 with 1.40 to 1.57 - that's how I came along this thread.

I have the 1.5x-EPROMs (burned again recently) but I need the 1.5x CPU. Back in 1997/8 I got one complete upgrade set from Yamaha directly but when implanting the CPU they sent me the Mod-Wheels didn't work right, so I reverted to 1.40.

Brian or Manny - do you have any fresh-burned 1.5-CPUs that I could buy from you?

Thanks

- Ilias

Ilias,

Yes, I have blank chips and can burn 1.57 CPU for you. PM me and we'll discuss how I can get it to you.

Did you burn your own 1.5x EPROMS or did someone local do it for you? The same equipment & software should read the SeqROM

I use a GQ-4X programmer. Google it if you'd like to get the gear do it yourself -- though there may be other less expensive options, and Brian may have some suggestions.

Or if you're comfortable mailing the SeqROM, I could read it and send it back. If you want to keep it in Europe and avoid overseas mailing, perhaps Miks would be willling to read the SeqROM?

Yes - no problem. If Ilias is willing to send it here I'll read out the ROM and immediately send it back to him.
