Question is, whether or not its possible to load external program/combi banks on a blank PCMCIA card? How about PCM data?
Hmmm - the M1/M1R uses a 256 kB S-RAM card (which is NO PCMCIA card!) to store Progs/Combis/Seq-Data (apart from the internal memory). Its (mostly) a Mitsubishi BeeCard (containing a coin-cell to keep the data stored). But you CANNOT
save your data directly to the card(s) - if you transfer data to your M1/M1R (i.e. sysex files via MIDI) they're ALWAYS
going to the synth's internal memory! So you have to save the internal memory first if you want to keep that content!
After the transfer you have to store the internal memory to the cartridge (which first has to be formatted (if not already done before) within the synth - during this process you have to decide wether you want to 'use' sequencer data or not). Then you may put your saved data back to the internal memory...
Those PCM cards can't be 'copied' yet - but a guy I know is working on a promising solution for that - we have to wait and see what solution will arise...
