hi,
thanks
will tidy up and take up the offer to covert it to pdf.

The fci seems to take two stabs (two pointy teeth) at getting a purchase on the strip and maybe a small stapler could be used to jump bad traces where the strip has been folded over.

Thanks Miks. I have been in touch with Raj who created the original article and he said I could reproduce it for the front of the site so will do that and also link to the pdf here. He also said he plans to bring his site back online as he has a lot more articles to add.

Thank you so much, everyone!
I recently got a used SY99, and its aftertouch lacks sensitivity.
In the Test program, it only goes up to 20 upon pressure.
This article is very informative, i may be able to fix my unit. It may take a while until i dive in and open it (under a lot of pressure at work currently... my boss presses way beyond 20 hehe) but i plan on doing it sometime soon, and i'll share my experience here.
Thanks again!

BTW: if you once have your synth open its recommended to take a closer look onto the keybed's pcb to see if one or more of the key contact(s) have wiggled loose - in this picture (taken from the above Aftertouch Repair) this seems to be the case - please see the red circles I've placed within the pic. Those contacts are in need of a splash of fresh solder - once its done you're good to go :D

Hi Miks,
If i understand correctly, this issue is not directly related to the aftertouch, but those poor contacts may cause the keys to be non-responsive at all. Am i correct?

This has been weird. why are there any poor contacts/solder joints in the first place?
