You could transfer the files with midi cable after unzipped it to your synth.

There's a W7/W5 Librarian program in the downloads section. This should help you transfer files to and from your W7

reply w7 files transferring with midi

Unread post by leonmad » Thu Feb 10, 2005 5:58 pm

Thanks saul for your help,
but the program only can modify or create w7 files,
and can not convert w7 files in a midi or system exclusive format,
that can be transferring with midi cable to the synth.
If you have more information ,please answer to me.
I am evaluating to buy a digital piano ,for the weighted keyboard ,
and a good midi sound program to transfer all the work on the PC.
What did you think this, and about w7 sinth???
bye ...and thank you again

Not sure on actually "converting" the files. I don't own a W7/W5. I assumed you just transferred the .A!V files across to your W7 via midi and that would be it. I'll check into this though.

As for software. I use Midiquest XL myself. That may be over the top for your needs since it covers a wide range of keyboards and modules, including the W5/W7. But you can get single instrument versions for about $99.00 . Anyway, check it out here http://www.squest.com/index.html

How much money are you going to spend on a digital piano? Maybe it's time to sell the W7 and put the money to an all in one solution ? I'm just in the process of buying a Motif ES myself, although an 88 key weighted version of that is a bit on the expensive side.

Cheapest weighted 88 note keyboard I have come across has been the Roland RS9. You can pick one up for around £400 now. That would do most things and has pretty good piano sounds.

even if it has been my first pretty instrument.....
If i will have something new i'll write it on this forum.
I hope you will do the same.

Goodmorning
I'm a new Yamaha W5 user and I just now joined your group. Everything here is really interesting and I'll probably give my contribution as I'm going to replace my W5 display with a standard LED backlit display I've found at about 30 Euros. As soon as the replacement is complete I'll post detailed instructions. At the moment I was in a desperate need of the factory set disk for the voices of the W5. I've found nothing at all on your download section, probably the post was too old and it's been deleted, anyway if you could help me in sourcing this disk or other voice disks for such an instrument, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Tony and welcome to yamahamusicians.com :)

Wow just noticed this thread was from back in 2005! But yes your right, the link has gone. We changed site platform and servers a few times since then. I will check through my files and see what I can find. The W5 is still a great keyboard and would be very interested to see how that replacement display looks once you have fitted it.

Hey guys, have you ever sorted it out?

I have a W7 V2 with a "Version 2 DEMONSTRATION" disk (I may try to send you the files if you need it), but I don't have the Factory Set disk. Most inquiries I've found about this are more than 10 years old and the replies point to broken links.

If anyone has the Factory Set disk and could send me the files, I'd appreciate it. The manual is not really clear on this, but it seems the Version 1 had the same disk, so that might work too.

Thanks!

I have the W7 and I would like the Version 2 DEMONSTRATION disk files, you can send them to my email address or post the files here for download.
