Ha ha, yeah I think if they can call Florida one way or the other I will then go and get some sleep. Of course it's Broward County that is holding things up. Always slow at every election. Surely they would have sorted it by now? Anyway it's crawled forward to 92% and Trump is still in the lead

Yeah that's a huge win for Trump. It was expected but still it's a big number. Also looking increasingly like he may actually take Florida!

I also had intended to got to bed at 2am but then I didn't bank on Florida taking so long to be called one way or the other. Damned frustrating!

I did not really remember Florida taking so long during the Obama/Romney election. It's a BREATHTAKING situation.

He could lose PENNSYLVANIA but gain MICHIGAN and OHIO.

Well looking at the percentages in Florida I don't see how Clinton can take it. Trump has quite a lead and I'm not sure there are enough votes left for Clinton to catch up.

Anyway, I think I will have to leave it there and catch up in the morning. It's gripping but I can't stare at that progress bar any more.

Well, I knew it might happen but I "hoped" the American people had more sense. Seems not. I would say they get what they deserve but of course the it's not just them that is stuck with Trump as president. It affects us all. Asian markets have already crashed.

If you thought the UK leaving the EU was bad, that pales into comparison with what a Trump presidency will do.

I'm very happy that evil murderous corrupt war-mongering Hillary didn't win, but I'm not happy that Trump won, my choice would have been 'none of the above'.

Given the choice they had they actually chose the lesser evil.

I'm actually surprised that Hillary's puppet-master Soros (who owns the company that makes the voting machines used in many swing states) didn't manage to rig the elections enough to make her win.

Yep I suppose your right Tux. Clinton would definitely not have been a choice for me either. Were I an American voter I may have just gone with an independent or Green candidate.

I guess my reaction was how all those who voted to remain in the EU must have felt when they woke to the unexpected news that we had actually voted to leave.

Anyway it is what it is. Trump being elected is probably not an entirely bad thing for Americans domestically. He is a successful businessman after all so he's hardly likely to damage the US economy...at least not deliberately. Plus he has a whole bunch of very experienced politicians around him. No choice now anyway. Just have to see how it plays out.

I'm guessing there are some very nervouse people in places like Estonia and Ukraine right now though. The champagne corks must have been popping in the Kremlin on the news Trump had been elected.

One thing I definitely do agree with Trump about is the state of Nato and many of it's member countries not contributing what they signed up for. As far as I am aware only five countries including the USA contribute 2% or more of gdp to defence. Oddly enough Greece is the second biggest contributor after the USA which given the state of their economy is quite something, then it's the UK, Estonia and Poland. The rest don't come anywhere close.

Hi,

I watched it until nearly 4am!

I don't understand people who just did not vote for the INDEPENDENTS instead of a lesser of two evils vote?

I believe Peirs Morgan is conducting the very first UK interview with Trump. I absolutely can not stand him for a second and neither can I bare the Daily Mirror. Though I think David Dimbleby and Kaye Burley would have been equally nauseating for the task.

Ta,

I didn't stay up to watch. Last I knew Trump had 216. I had a feeling then that there might be an upset.
Someone said this a.m. that Dems ran the only candidate that Trump could beat.
Possibly even bigger news is he has both houses .
He was praising Hillary and calling for nationwide reconciliation. Does he think everyone is stupid? I know the average attention span has grown pretty short but come on!
