Krome power supply.... anyone had any problems?

Unread post by Mr Stew » Fri Apr 17, 2015 12:09 pm

Title says it all really, I'm wondering how long the mains adapter should work for?

I gig most weekends and have several spare standard "kettle" leads for my other keyboards which use standard 3 pin mains cables, but of course the Krome has that silly converter for which I don't carry a spare.

Has anyone had one fail? I'm thinking maybe I should carry a spare just in case.....

These things are pretty reliable. Only had one fail over the last 20 years. However if your a gigging muso you should definitely have a spare!

I have had the power cord come slightly dislodged causing no power, so now as a habit I always make sure it is pushed in properly.

As far as carrying a spare power supply, I recommend. It is an inexpensive insurance step. I usually keep spares in a bin in my truck, rather than lug it needlessly.

A long time ago when I used a Triton, I had a power supply fail. By dumb luck, the drummer had one in his bag for something he wasn't using and it worked. Saved me from a ruined gig. after that, I always get spares.

Yep, if you are a gigging musician then you can never be too careful! Luckily the KROME has proved to be a pretty reliable keyboard. Only issues I have heard of were to do with the display but I don't think the incidence of failure was any higher than Triton, M50 and M3. Personally I have never had any issues with KORG touch screens and I have owned quite a few.

Just this week my KA320 power-supply stopped working. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong. I feel that possibly a 'male' pin has snapped off, either from the plug on the adaptor or the socket in the Krome.

Can anyone confirm if one of them should have a 'male' pin in the middle? :confusion-confused:

Welcome to the forums dochara :)

I am pretty sure the KROME should have a middle pin at the power input. The adapter plug won't have one.

They are fairly cheap to replace thought https://amzn.to/2BKzYum
