How to open TG33 ??

Unread post by strum » Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:35 am

Hi,

I'm new to this forum.

I recently went a bit nuts, and got an FB-01, TX81Z, TX802, TG77, and FS1R. Also got a waveblade from Brian for the TG77.

Now, I just received a TG33, seems in good condition, but it smells a bit musty like it was stored in a damp basement. Also there is some dust underneath the LCD cover. Not sure how it got in there?

Anyway, I'd like to open this up, and let it air out for a while, and also clean the LCD cover from the inside.

All the other modules have been straight forward to open. But can't seem to figure this one out. I've been unable to find any tutorials on how to open the TG33. If anyone can point me to any information that would be great.

thanks!

Hi strum, and welcome to the Forums . . .

That's a real collection of old and venerable modules -

The FB-01 is the oddity there - developed by Yamaha's HiFi Division. The output tends to be rather low . . .

There is a fix somewhere in here . . .

Let us know how it goes. We are always interested in moves to prolong the lives of these "oldies"

Thanks Parametric

I'm really looking forward to having fun figuring this all out, and making some music along the way!! ;)

There is something about the limitations and tangible nature of these old boxes that I find very appealing.

I think it was a kind of golden era . . .

FM was new - and people couldn't get enough of those clean bright sounds . . . .

The big attraction of the TX-802 was it's 8 individual outs. Sadly, those have a tendency to be noisy, though the H/P out is OK.
