Yamaha CP4 Stage Piano

Unread post by sergiomot »

Hi,
I am using a CP4 Stage and Yamaha Motif Rack XS module as part of a midi setup running midi files from iPad using Sweet Midi Midi File Player. The Motif Rack takes care of most of the instruments; drums, bass, synth sounds, brass and all others. I also am sending program changes to my CP4 on midi channel 1. I notice that the CP4 also responds to midi data on both channels 2 & 3.
I want the CP4 to ONLY respond to data received on channel 1, not 2 & 3. Is there some way to set up the midi parameters on the CP$ so it ignores data received on channels 2 & 3? Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks.

CAVEAT - I don't have personal experience with that model but do have experience with that topic for Modx/Montage models.

So I checked the Reference doc for that model here:
https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/o ... _rm_b0.pdf

On page 42 it has this:
BasicCh
(Basic Channel)
This parameter can be used to set the channel for transmission and
reception of Performance changes
NOTE Irrespective of this parameter’s setting, the channels for transmission and
reception of Part changes are permanently set to channels 1 to 3 for the CP4
STAGE or channels 1 and 2 for the CP40 STAGE.
That suggests that you can't ignore channel 3 for the CP4 or channel 2 for the CP40.

Others with personal experience on that model may be able to suggest alternatives.

You didn't provide ANY info about what it is that might be SENDING on channel 3. One option is to disable the sender from being able to send on channel 3. If that isn't possible there are MIDI devices on the market that can do filter channeling/redirection.

While you wait for other responses please provide more detailed info about the sending device and the cabling you are using.
