It isn't new though.
I see. The site is behaving differently from before, for sure. Also now I get an window with a close button with the 'advert' which I did not see until today (before the advert was below the main banner.
The bookmark to the site I use is search.php?search_id=unreadposts and I had not changed it.
Anyway, none of this is a problem for me. Thanks for maintaining this site.
I haven't changed any of the functions of the site. Just added the new style. You can switch back to the one you are most comfortable with either in your user control panel or via the style chooser drop down at the top of the forum

Looks ok to me when using my iPhone the layout is fine but I only joined today so I don’t know what it looked liked before so I will view it with the new look
Ahhh, that's the reason it all that sudden was 'back to normal'
Have to investigate a bit to deside my preference ...
Cheers & Happy Playing.

There has always been a choice of forum styles available Del. Most are still using the standard phpbb prosilver style, which personally I think is incredibly dated but it does the job. The next most popular and one that was previously set as the default for guests is the prosilver Dark Edition.
You can easily look at the styles by using the Style Switcher function at the top of the forum to find one you like.

I have also added a colour swatch tool at the top of the forum. You can change the colour to your own preference and save three versions to switch between. But note that this is only available for the new forum style. It doesn't work for any of the others.

Is the old style still available as an option?
It is and if you have that set in your user preferences then it should show when you reload.
Having said that, I am trying to unify the forum under one specific style because it makes updating a lot easier and if I make any custom changes I only need to do them to one style instead of several at a time.
Ah, yes, it did. Noted, I'm one for the easy life myself however I am perhaps in a minority as I don't hold with the notion that everything on the 'net has to look like a mobile. I don't go for the tonka-toy look (not a comment on yours) which was the main reason why I sacked off Tesco online shopping when they unified their web site and I was faced with a horrible 27" giant mobile. If it has to be I'll live with it but if there is any way to compromise and preserve at least one of the desktop profiles (perhaps prosilver) it would be greatly appreciated.

Yamaha EX5, AN1X, TG500, MU100R, A3000, Moog Werkstatt, Korg Wavestation SR, Sigma, Legacy Digital, nanoKontrol v2, Nord Modular G2, G2 Engine, Focusrite PRO 40, MIDISPORT 8x8/s & Uno, Behringer DEQ2496, Arturia Keylab 49 MkII, BeatStep, V Collection, Pigments | Love keyboards but so little time
I am leaving it for now Jim. There are seven styles to choose from. The standard prosilver will always be available as it is needed for any updates and troubleshooting forum issues.

I use dark modes as much as I can these days. My eyes can’t handle bright and higher contrast now that I’m developing macular degeneration. At least I think that is why.

Liking the new look a lot! Thanks Saul.

I tend to switch between light and dark modes depending on the ambient light in the room. Nice to have choices though I also like being able to fine tune the colour to my own preference. I think that was a genius idea with this new phpbb style. Perhaps other developes should take note of that one.
Aren't there new treatments for macular degeneration now? I seem to remember reading something about that a short while ago.

Besides a combination of specific vitamins, minerals and Antioxidants that has been approved after a many year study and trials is all I know.
Have you heard of some sort of physical/surgical procedure? I would be interested in what you were reading because my optometrist hasn’t mentioned anything. Except to go every 6 months and keep watch on its progression and the AREDS 2 supplements. Oh and eating green vegetables. I will have to look into it.
One thing is there are different types and levels of MD. I’m just showing initial signs and it’s still what they call “Dry” MD. However I have noticed definite symptoms. Mostly issues with bright light (sun), worse vision and straight lines become distorted. Especially if I’m tired. I wear quality UV protected sunglasses whenever outside.
This is what I was referring to. Not sure if it is absolutely the latest treatment available but I know that progress is definitely being made
For wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), new treatments focus on reducing the frequency and invasiveness of anti-VEGF therapies. For instance, longer-lasting injections like Beovu and Sunitinib are designed to extend the time between treatments. Additionally, there is ongoing research into anti-VEGF eye drops and oral tablets, which could eventually replace injections, offering more convenient options for patients.
On the other hand, dry AMD, particularly in its advanced form known as geographic atrophy (GA), has seen exciting developments with the approval of new drugs. Two notable drugs, Syfovre and Izervay (avacincaptad pegol), have been approved by the FDA. These drugs target specific proteins that contribute to the degeneration of retinal cells, showing promise in slowing down the progression of GA, which previously had very limited treatment options

Wow, I’ll have to have a discussion with my doctor and also look into it myself. Many thanks for the info!!! My Mother had it and she was just about blind by the time she passed at 92. I believe there’s a hereditary element to it. I have a little ways to go to 92…
