FGDP-50 MIDI mapping in DAW (Reaper)

Unread post by fractalist »

Hi!

I would like to MIDI-map the FGDP-50 in my DAW (in my case, Reaper) so that it triggers the same instruments (kick, snare, hi-hat closed/open etc) in a drum VST in Reaper as it does when using the FGDP in stand-alone mode using its own local instruments.

When using everything in default setting, instruments are located under different sensor pads in the case of stand-alone vs as MIDI controller driving a plug-in in DAW.

Has anyone solved this problem before and could point me in the right direction how to solve this?

Thank you in advance!

The best resource I found so far is Kenny Gioia's tutorial on remapping. I think it will do the trick. The mapping is essentially done in the drum plugin in question, mapping the notes to the right sounds using e.g. MIDI learn, and then saving / recalling the preset.
