Still an amazingly versatile keyboard and more so when we consider it was released back in 2005. At that time I don't think there was anything like it out there?
Some of the presets are of course, showing their age and I was never a huge fan of the "Holy Grail" grand piano but they are mostly still very usable today. And with the Hollow Sun sound packs there are thousands of sounds to choose from and plenty of ways to edit and make them your own.
The Alesis Fusion is definitely a classic

It didn't have a long shelf life due to issues with early firmware and the quite drastic price cutting by Alesis. That kind of spooked a lot of people and the media were also not helpful. But then Alesis also didn't help matters by not fixing some bugs and not implementing some of the firware updates that were promised.
If you can get one though it is absolute classic. With four integrated synthesis types: Sample Playback, Virtual Analog, FM and Physical Modeling and being able to use them all at the same time, unlike the Yamaha EX5 for example, it is a powerhouse of a synth. Not without its quirks of course but what synth isn'?

I have never seen one in a music store here, I don't remember anything of them.
I was out looking for other flavours of keyboards in 2005, it was '06 it bought the J-106.
Even ensoniq was more in abundance.
Fusions maybe about, I've never seen one...
I was just looking on my alesismusic.com forum and found a guy there from Melbourne who bought a Fusion 8HD in 2008. He mentioned an upgrade from the distributor so they must have been sold in Australia
