First of all I would like to thank dmitrins for the great work he did, and that he decided to share his knowledge. I hope he's doing all right, he didn't post for more than a year.

I would be interested in the OLED version of the display, how is the work going? Has anybody done any progress?

One note about switch buttons. I had to replace the switch under the right arrow as mine didn't work. I didn't have the proper switch at hand, so I decided to go with some similar switches I had around, which are ~4.3mm high, an have a base of 6x6mm. The button works fine now, it goes a little deeper than the others when pressed, but I guess that's OK.

About the Facebook group. Frankly I would prefer an open "old style" forum like this one. It's easier to look for old information using search engines.

Hello all! I tragically killed my FZ-1 display trying to replace the backlight and would be thrilled to get a more modern replacement without the delicate ribbon cables. I don't know anything about engineering or even building my own DIY projects from a BOM, and it appears that Dmitri and Stefan are no longer involved in the project, and the FB group appears to be defunct.

My questions to the group are:

1. Is it currently possible to build the OLED or LCD versions of this display with the existing BOM/firmware?
2. If so, would anyone here be available for hire to perform this build or know anyone who might be?

Thanks!

Reached out to Catwei (魏文超) on Facebook. He replied saying that while he was able to get the display to work externally (though it took him a long time), he wasn't able to get it installed in the FZ-1 since the display size is different and he doesn't have a suitable bracket to install it, and that he has put the project on hold for now.

I really hope someone takes up Dmitri's work in the future, but for now it looks like I will have to wait for an FZ-1 display (or a whole FZ-1 for parts) to show up for sale.

UPDATE 9/9/24

I heard back from Dmitri who said he's "considering adopting the popular 'cheap yellow board' (aka CYD)". This would be an "open source project on fw developing with a diy building guide". Hoping this comes to fruition!

Hello guys,

here is another victim of the ribbon cables. As most of you, I've destroyed the LCD module while trying to install a new backlight.

What is the status of this project? Is there anyway I can help with? I have some ESP32 boards at home and other useful stuff to help testing or whatever.

Hi. Do you mean that there still is a way to contact Dmitrins? He hasn't logged in here since 2022 :-(
