Hello Hans

You were not able to enter Korg Forums for over a year? Has it been down that long or was it just a problem gaining access?

I know it was going through some troubles recently and no one seems to know why it has suddenly disappeared. I only visited rarely, at times when I owned a Korg keyboard but as I am familiar with the models I have always had most interest in, Triton, Fantom, M3 and Nautilus I had not been there for some time.

Korg owners will always find a warm welcome here 👍

Hi Hans , thanks for welcome
Pa700 can be considered as successor of Pa300 (Factory PCM equivalent to Pa600) in previous KorgPa series in the category Pa1000 & Pa4X IMO
it has the minimum standards for a nowadays arranger.
After complete development of Pa5X , I guess that new Pa series will be released equivalent to Pa700 & Pa1000 relatively.

No, Korg Forums has not been down that long, but at the site there was announced a downtime due to maintainance from October 6th (2024) for some days.
This did not happen, and I think last time I visited before it went down was late October or very early November. I think it has been down for at least 5 or 6 weeks now. 🤔
It's not possible to use the contact form at Irish Acts website to try contact Sharp (James) either, because it don't work.
Cheers & Happy Playing. 🍷 🎶🎵

If anyone manages to get in contact with Sharp, do let him know that I would be happy to get the forum back online and fully support it 👍

I've tried the contact form at IrishActs website, but that does not work, and I've found a emailadress at another forum, but it's using the KorgForums domain who is down... :(

Would creating a new Korg-centric forum (say "korgmusicians.com") be a doable option? The new site could be set-up in a similar manner as the old Korg forum. Contributors to the old site could be encouraged to contribute to the new site.

Hello Gunnar J,
Well, I'll tell you something.

In my case, for more than a year, I was not able to access the Korg forum.

I tried in several ways, such as: checking my internet connection, devices, firewall of my computer, I also tried changing browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and MicrosoftEdge) also from my mobile phone and it was not possible either.

In any case, I have very fond memories of the Korg forum and some of its most emblematic participants, such as Antonio Sharman, who fortunately is now here accompanying us, the other if I remember correctly was Kharma, (I don't remember his full name) also Don Mason (died several years ago)

At this moment, other names of fellow forum members escape me, but it would be very nice to see them here

Greetings

Hans

It would be possible but starting a forum from scratch is not the easiest of tasks. For one thing you would definitely need several people with expertise in Korg synths and arranger keyboards to be there participating regularly in order to encourage others to follow.

Technically speaking I "could" export this Korg Forum section into a new phpbb forum but it requires a bit of work. If there is interest in it then I am happy to do that but if the original Korg forum comes back up it could end up being a lot of wasted time and effort on my part 🤔

That's very strange. 🤔

I got my Pa5X-76 about 18. November last year, and I was very frequent at KorgForums to seek help and inspiration.
Antony was active, Qui was active as most others and everything was just great.
Oh well, that's if look away from those few "deep divers" that constantly was whining about that "everything" was wrong with the Pa5X and that some functions were missed from Pa4 :(

Btw.
I'm happy to say that my Pa5X worked great for my use, and it still work flawless. A friend of mine "hijacked" it, and use it to create and tweak styles, and he plays at gigs regulary without any glitches.
I managed to get it to shut down and restart by itself a couple of times, but that was users faults caused by myself. That was quickly sorted out when I talked about it at the forum. 👍 :)

It's very sad if all that information at KF should disappear. If so, theres a huge source of knowledge and solutions gone. :(
Cheers & Happy Playing. 🍷 🎶🎵

Let me doubt about deep term for those users since they belong to gamblers that belong mostly to the second category I have described
there viewtopic.php?p=128079#p128079
Dudes with real knowledge as Qui and me , frequently advised users that after OS v1.2 End Users will have no issues except some minor
ones.
Ethnic users that had migrated older PaSeries resources in Pa5X had only issues with their own responsibility when transferred improper
resources.

There were some important issues in sound engine of Pa5X concerning stereo samples importing and big stereo samples management
that most of you would never discover since it's strictly a matter of very advanced sampling editing & development that even Korg
developers were aware but under my help most of them have been addressed.

Finally , Pa5X is a new arranger line with new design , new features and the best ever arranger of Korg and not necessarily a continuation
of Pa4X , therefore it's up to KorgPa developers to include some Pa4X functions that I'm aware that they will in the near future , so Pa5X
owners be happy and enjoy your arranger , it works fine and will have further development to maintain the top notch market place it
possesses.

Hope this helps

Instead of creating an entirely new site, is there a way to shortcut Korgforums.com to point to the Korg section of *this* site? But then it would still require purchasing the domain either way, wouldn't it?

Without access to the domain or hosting it would not be possible to do a redirect. The domain is registered until August 2026 and if not renewed it is likely that one of the registrars will get their greasy hands on it before it would fall to public release. They will then slap a huge price tag on it. The domain sniping business has become a monopoly of the registrars over the past couple of years.

So the only options are to make contact with whoever controls the domain and ask/persuade them to do a redirect or start a new forum, or build up this section to cover the same topics as the original.

However, given that this forum's focus is really "Yamaha" I don't think it would be a particularly good fit to incorporate a full blown Korg forum into it. Better to hive off what we have into a dedicated Korg forum?

I personally have no problem seeing multiple brands here. But as you said, this is "Yamaha" dedicated forum in first place and so we can't expect Korg owners would feel being "at home" here (I'm sure you know what I mean)... I just think that Korg owners deserve to have it's own forum.

Just sharing my thoughts,

Well of course this has been a multi-brand forum for years, in fact we have always included other brands here. But this is probably never going to be a replacement for Korg owners because over 70% of the content here is Yamaha focused.

I can hive off this section to a new standalone Korg forum. The question is whether anyone would want me to do that?

And by the way, in hiving off this section it would simply be a way to give a new forum a head start. Better than a completely empty forum as that is not conducive to encouraging people to stay and post.

Ah, I didn't have that in mind when I said Korg owners "deserve" a dedicated forum.. it was more generally speaking.. because I respect Korg (owners) :)

I think it's maybe too early to start new Korg forum, because we simply don't know if Korg is planning something for near future (which I personally doubt). I would say.. be prepared to make the move
