I know that keyboardforums has a board for Korg products. Outside of here & there, I don't know if there are any major sites with space set aside for Korg products.

To be honest, I think that a percentage of traffic that would post here & at keyboard are now utilizing other venues such as Facebook, which has multiple Korg-centric groups.

This is similar to what has happened to telecom help boards. Many have folded and the remaining ones see only a fraction of the traffic they used to. :(

In any case, I have very fond memories of the Korg forum and some of its most emblematic participants, such as Antonio Sharman, who fortunately is now here accompanying us, the other if I remember correctly was Kharma, (I don't remember his full name) also Don Mason (died several years ago)

At this moment, other names of fellow forum members escape me, but it would be very nice to see them here

Greetings

Hans
Hi Hans, Karmathanever was Pete’s online name, I’m really annoyed with myself, I actually had his phone no. and his email I think, you can guess we’re they’re stored, in the Korg forum messages😫.
Fortunately Antony found us the other day, so will be great to have his expertise.

Hi, I noticed when I type in Korg Forum on google, the 3rd or 4th link that pops up is to Yamahamusicians / Korg forum, so hopefully that may direct a few more members here. Actually that’s what alerted me to the fact that this site actually had a Korg section.

Hello Rikky, it's good to hear from you, I didn't realize you were also on this forum.

Thank you very much for reminding me of Karmathan's name, which is Pete.

Although the name Karmathan appeared on his avatar.

greetings

Hans

That is good to know. Hopefully, a few other Korg Forums users will find their way here. I know it is not an ideal replacement for the old Korg forum but who knows? With time and the right people anything is possible 👍

A couple of years ago I joined Facebook (yeah, I was late :) ), but two weeks later I left it permanently and I don't even think about to go there again -it just isn't my thing.
In my opinion, for those who are seriously interested into playing/creating music, there's currently no alternative to forum.

AntonySharmman wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:17 pm Finally , Pa5X is a new arranger line with new design , new features and the best ever arranger of Korg and not necessarily a continuation
of Pa4X , therefore it's up to KorgPa developers to include some Pa4X functions that I'm aware that they will in the near future , so Pa5X
owners be happy and enjoy your arranger , it works fine and will have further development to maintain the top notch market place it
possesses.
I think that's an important point, that it is a new design and not simply an updated PA4X. Whenever companies do a complete redesign, it is common that not every function of the previous generation is maintained. I seem to remember there was someone at korgforums who complained with some frequency about the PA700/1000 not having some feature he relied on from their predecessors, and practically considered the new models useless and couldn't understand why an update to restore that functionality never came. But of course, that didn't stop lots of people from being very happy with their PA700/1000.

Similarly, the Montage lost some useful functionality than the Motif XF had (and I think mitigating those complaints might have factored into the decision to abandon the well established Motif nomenclature), the Nord Stage 4 lost what some people felt were crucial functions from the 3, which in turn was missing some big things from the 2. And so on.

Bugs are one thing, but complaining that a new board doesn't do something the older board did is pretty much just par for the course.

A bit of a side question. Yesterday (Friday), in the spirit of the season, I played (and recorded) "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" on my church's Nautilus AT. I checked about a half hour ago and found that the song has 10 more years before it goes into Public Domain. If I include the name of the Copywrite holder, can I post the video?

Quoting the copyright holder doesn't give permission to 'broadcast' your version of a song. A lot people do this on YT
thinking this. Often claiming section 104b of the american copyright act, 'fair use' ...
Copyright is normally Life+70 like the old adage. for this song should end in 2055

The most common way: upload to YT anyway, as a lot of people have previously, and let the owner of the copyright
(should be the estate of Johnny Marks, or the manager of, and that could be anyone) collect the ad money.
Then post the link on the forum.

When the copyright clears in 31 years, it'll no doubt
be re-copyrighted and infinitely trademarked as end of year carols help make huge money.

or ... :?
If you want to go all above board, upload your recording to wearethehits.com so its registered with them.
however the original owner and writer Johnny Marks isn't listed, so you'll have to contact admin of the site to add it.
Then upload to youtube, wait for them to claim the copyright, then you contest the claim, citing it's being cleared by
wearethehits, wait for YT to release the claim. then paste the link, it's convoluted

plonk it on youtube and have fun.

..and so it turns out, everything is copyrighted. All this "copyright" stuff has become a big scam and has lost it's original purpose. It all started when someone decided that copyright clears after 70 years of author's death -that was the key to start making money on other people's work.
Nowadays I wouldn't be surprised if someone would claim copyright on your song simply because you played it in Cmaj7.

When I publish a video I always tell who the author is. Not because I would fear the copyright, but to inform the audience who actually deserves the credit.

You can be flagged for copyright infringement even when posting your original work! The system has gone way past the point of being helpful to original content creators.

I am not one to encourage copyright infringement but in this particular case I would say just post the video to your own channel and link to it. If there are any issues you will soon know about it ;)

That is a good and important habit!
If one reuses or copy others work, inform about the source and give credit to the ones that deserve it most.
