The Yamaha SY99 is a synthesiser combining frequency modulation synthesis (branded as Advanced FM) and sample-based synthesis (branded as Advanced Wave Memory 2) and the direct successor to Yamaha's SY77/TG77
So I'm not sure if I've misunderstood something, but the function keys on my SY99 don't seem to be doing what they're supposed to. Rather than do what's displayed on the menu, they jump me to different pages. For instance, pressing F3 when in voice edit mode, rather than editing the AFM element, it jumps me to the utility page. Is this a setting? I couldn't find anything skimming the manual.
Was it ever incorrectly repaired or plugged wrong lead into wrong board? I used to strip out the guts of the unit and replace the tact switches, probably did a hundred of them. I don't recall it having a "Shift" feature that changes button functions but it's been a long time.
I got it used a while back, so it's possible. It does have a shift button, but all that does is turn F1-F8 into F9-F16. I can try opening it up and seeing if anything is off.
