I have no idea what these sounds are as they came to me as a just "sy22" so, if you have an SY22 and you find out what they are can you please update the thread?

Hi Saul, many thanks for the SY85 memory!
I've just purchased an SY22. They seem so much cheaper than the TG33. I'll check out the sounds and update with a list or video etc.

Hi Saul, many thanks for the SY85 memory!
Your welcome. How did it go, did you find out what the capacity of each module was?
Regarding the SY22 I think as Chris said it is a very much underrated synth...which if your looking for one is probably a good thing as it keeps prices low
Another great thing about the SY22 is that if you hook it up to the KORG Legacy Collection software you can use the SY22 Vector controller with the virtual version of the KORG Wavestation

Sorry for the late reply Saul!
I will be checking the memory modules later on the SY85 as I've been sampling the entire synth and I didn't want to mess up anything until it was done!;-)
I've also sampled my SY22 and it is very much an underrated synth. Excellent to know about the MIDI controller advise!!
I'll keep you informed about the memory modules. Thanks again for all of your help.
Thanks for the update. How did you go about sampling the SY85 and SY22? I remember a few years ago I bought some software called 'Sample Robot' which was supposed to make it easy to sample any keyboard and create a full sound set...which it probably does but I could never get my head around it.

Hi Saul, I wanted to give you at least a partial update. I've downloaded this file and from what I can see it's merely some MIDI recordings from an SY22 rather than Sounds that can be used or loaded directly in one. I could be wrong and will try to get them in to my SY22 to confirm but due to the MID extension I dont' think it's likely.
Generally the sounds for an SY22 should be in an .SYX extension. I have a number of SY-22 Sounds in this format that I've been collecting but due to the joys of Sysex files moved to a floppy and then attempted to be loaded to my SY22 through a Yamaha QX5fd I've ran in to a few snags.
Should I upload these here for anyone else to have a stab at as I work through my internal issues getting those other collections loaded?
If anyone else has better info on this be sure to let me (us) know.
Yamaha SY22 Synthesizer, QX5fd Sequencer, Korg D16 Digital Recorder, Yamaha FX500 effects, various drum machines and bits, Aria 335, Ibanez 5 String Bass, various guitars, and every old piece of electronics I can get my hands on... (I miss my vintage analog Korg Synth...)
Hi Rhys, thanks for the heads up on that SY22 file. I have never used it so wasn't sure what it was.
Yes if you can upload what you have so others can try them that would be very useful. I have a feeling I do have other SY22 files here somewhere but it will be on an old hard drive so will need to go through them.

Hey SY22 Fans, Here are a number of different bulk voice files. I believe all of these are free to distribute (if anyone finds any where that is not the case please alert me). Due to issues getting these from a PC to my SY22 I have so far not been able to test any of these.
Some of these are geared for the TG33 but using the link below you can resolve the save issue that happens with the TG33 sounds so they are usable by an SY22.
One of these is a re-tuning and fixing of another but I can't recall and can't test right now.

Hey Saul, late to reply to this but I have used both Samplerobot and Samplit (the latter being the simpler one). It does make sampling an outboard synth quite easy- you specify velocity range and number of zones and then it automates it (you can literally leave the room). I've done this with several 90's boxes, my TG33, a roland D20. The main issue is noise! When you play chords, you're essentially playing one SY22 for each note. It's not terrible but does kind of make it a less "pure" experience. Anyway it's a great tool for having this stuff in your VST/AU sampler very quickly.
