Not exactly sure what these sounds are as I don't own the SY55 so if anyone knows can you please update this thread?

Thanks for these. I haven't tried them yet but as I'm currently dusting off my SY55 for possible sale (damn my lack of TARDIS) I'm rediscovering all of its unique character.
Thanks for the patch list bjb and also welcome to the forums
Do let us know when/if you put your SY55 up for sale? Bound to be someone on the forum who may be interested

That's a useful page -- bookmarked for future reference.
That said, it doesn't handle much Yamaha kit (though its Roland coverage is pretty comprehensive) and it only goes as far as identifying the make/model and MIDI channel of the intended recipient, not patch names. There's actually a fair bit of complication involved with doing that in a general way (I'm sure Derek would know this only too well from his x.factory work). I wonder whether MIDI 2.0 makes this easier?
Aha. well I landed on that link from another page which claimed it was a utility to 'see syx file contents'. But as you rightly said its just some basic info. Still I have many .syx patch files that I have no idea (over the decades) for what synth they are.
Im not an SysEx expert - I do know back in my teens I read a lot on it and wrapped my head around it.
25+ years later when I look at my MIDI DATA manuals now it looks like algebra
But ok my Q then: When you say open the (?) patch .syx in a TextEditor (TextEdit on Mac) what will I see?
On that utility-weblink it shows/states that Device# can be seen. Is not that an instrument identifier - eg what synth that -syx file belongs to or was created in?
At some point in the future I do want to try to send some syx patches to my SY35/MICRON, but I have a long list of 'music-admin' things before that. Plus I have a lot of TG33 patches from 90s but it seems they wont load into SY35 (from reading info here and other forums).
So, I might just go the long haul and try to identify what waveforms I used in the TG33, find the SY35 equivalent and try to recreate the patch.
Just downloaded this little lot and transferred to my TG55 via Cakewalk, and then to MIDIQUEST........Very nice sounds. Thanks for making them available.
