My experience with Kraft Music

Unread post by shelly0624 »

Since companies are sometimes truly noteworthy, I really wanted to put in a good word for Kraft Music. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett Audio Interface and cable kit. Don't want to go into a lot of detail, but they made an error on my order but deferred to me and absorbed the difference. Who DOES that nowadays? They are really good communicators and just nice people. They deserve a "thumbs up". I want to do a review on the Focusrite Scarlett when I get acquainted with digital recording. This actually came with some software so I will be able to get started. Anyway, they had my back, which was much appreciated! ((i))

I had a good experience with them a few years ago, buying my FP-90 in their online chat. The communication was good, the discount was too.

We should definitely always give a shout out to companies that give good customer service and very happy to see Kraft Music added to the list :)

There are some companies out there who do put customers above profit and it is a wonderful thing to experience. I saw this recently with a metal detector company I am working with. A woman in the UK had bought a used machine on eBay and it was faulty. The seller disappeared..not surprisingly and no one could help her. She was going to write off her £380 but found our Facebook group and I got in touch with the distributor for her. They were brilliant. It appeared this machine had already been replaced back in 2017 but the seller had kept the old one and eventually sold it to the woman in question.

The factory was reluctant to replace it again so the distributor stepped in and replaced it themselves. Not only that but they had originally sent out the wrong machine to her. Instead of asking for it to be returned they said she could keep it and then sent the correct one. She was able to give the other machine to her 8-year-old son for his birthday.

The machine they replaced had a retail value of £699 and the one sent by mistake was £159. So this was totally about customer service above any monetary concern. Nothing to do with music of course but worth mentioning as there are companies out there in all sectors who do really value their customers. (Y)

It is nice when a customer is treated with some respect, it means they go back and spend more money
(unless the stock manager is an idiot and buys only what he thinks will make a quick profit)
I think a lot of businesses fail to realise the way a customer is treated is why many of them go belly up eventually.
(not accounting for any other causes)

Once when I did do a bit of business study one topic was the word of mouth pyramid.
One bad experience could result in the loss of a hundred potential sales.
Word of mouth speaks for it self ( ... ummmm :shifty: that was unintended ....  )
Once upon a time there used to be signs in many retailers stores

"Rule no.1 the customer is always right!
Rule no.2, if in doubt, see rule no.1"

A lot of this has gone out the window now.

The last time I had to try deal with any one was with Sigma and associated retailers for one of my camera lenses,
I'll never buy another of theirs ever again becasue of there attitude. just by writing this comment I've started off that pyramid.

I found a good seller on eBay for keyboard related stuff, LCD screens and firmwares, etc, I had a
problem he was happy to help and the problem was eventually sorted out. "cpmagneticmedia" in the UK
if any one is interested. I bought an LCD screen and updated firmware for my TX7.
It takes nothing the be nice about what you do and a lot more effort in to being not
so nice, because then you have to try and recover from the way some one was treated and that one person
could tell many others .... there's the pyramid again ...

Ah . . . . Rara - you've landed on one of my favourite topics, or should I say "hobby-horses" . . .

I actually have a whole corral full of them  - but that's for another time . . . . .

The Sign I like BETTER is:
If you are happy with your purchase - TELL OTHERS
If you are UNHAPPY - Tell US . . . . !
That Pyramid effect is REAL and SO true . . . . .

I call it "Peer Recommendation".

I have an incredibly short fuse with TV Advertising. I don't/won't watch it.

Yet incredibly, people are taken in (it's on TV so it must be True) and Advertisers are continually proved RIGHT - and so

are unlikely to be tempted AWAY from it. :( There is NO WAY, I will believe a script-reading Moron

("Celebrity" or TV-presenter), giving-forth on how wonderful a product is. . . .

On the other hand, I WILL pay attention to someone I KNOW and whose technical knowledge and background I Trust.

THIS is what I mean by "Peer Recommendation".

Case in point: - I needed a pair of inexpensive Cans to use with my Alesis Fusion AND to use with my DAW . . . . .

The guy I asked was a "visiting lecturer" at the Uni, teaching "Sound Recording" to our undergrads. His day job was at the BBC

producing Classical Concert recordings for BBC Radio3 . . . . . enuff said . .

He recommended the Beyer DT231. They were already discontinued but I managed to purchase one new/old stock

and they were great. Showing their age a bit now, I replaced them with 2 pairs of DT240 pro - currently 79EU and superb.

I have a Sigma 400mm f4.5? Telephoto Lens I bought off ebay (£30) for my NikonF Phot FTN, pending a trip to Africa back in 1980

Not a fancy Lens but was good, with the Nikon AI tab on the aperture ring. AND it fits my Nikon 5200 DSLR - albeit in manual mode . . .

The Lens was ungainly enough to have it's own tripod mount - so you attach the Camera - as an accessory . . .

ALWAYS nice to hear of thoughtful suppliers - and here is the place to declare them . . . . (Y)

When I was researching the possibility of an SSD upgrade to my Alesis Fusion 8HD, I found a Chinese supplier of PATA SSDs

which are rather rare outside China. I communicated with him and described the project - and subsequently bought TWO SSDs

They were KingSpec 128GB drives. He replied that if they didn't work - I could return them for a full refund

THIS, I reported in here, and in the FusionZone and FusionClub Forums I moderate in . . . .

I know for sure that he sold more drives as a result . . . . . (Y)

Re: My experience with Kraft Music

My drama with the sigma lens was with my 50-500 f4-5.6 DG HSM, the bayonet mount broke clean of the back of the lens.
Those tiny screws are barely able to support a camera when the lens is mounted to a tripod with the (as you said) body
as an accessory.

At the time it was broken it was still within a serviceable period, 7 years after the end of production for a given model.

Various camera (and repair) stores were blatantly fobbing me and it (the lens) off for being old and I should either just replace
it for the new version (which was a tad slower) or claim it under insurance.
They fobbed off the camera as well because that was old to apparently , it was brand new when I bought it 2 years before the lens
which set me back $2500, I contacted sigma imaging overseas, questions and emails went unanswered not even recognition for receipt of.

Insurance can't be done because everything over $1000 needs individual cover and that become prohibitively expensive.
Everything under $1000 has a $700 excess so there is no point making a claim for any thing under $1000.
(I make no apology to those people for not being able to replace a $2000 lens at the drop of hat when a new model comes out)

No one was interested in replacing what was essentially just a torn FPC between the bayonet and the PCB inside.
Lens has sat around for a couple of years, I finally got around to getting a newer soldering iron and 0.2mm conical
tip to tackle the repair myself. They couldn't or didn't want to waste time on a job that would have cost nothing
in labor so I'll do it my self (like most of everything else)

I know about those king spec drives I had my eye on those for a while, wanting one for one of my older laptops.

you reminded me of something silly I saw today which is distantly related to moronic advertising and steering off a tad.

I had no idea fish fillets could swim

Ha Ha Rara - this is PRECISELY the BS I'm referring to . . . . .

What is also SO annoying is that 1) they keep their jobs, 2) The person who is supposed to check their work ALSO keeps their job. :naughty:

:/:

. . . and so it continues . . . . . .

This was a serious WTF moment or double take in a super freezer section

Getting back to praise for sellers or retailers ....

My go to store for music gear is Music Swop Shop in Melbourne.
Any aussie readers of this forum should know them anyway :-)
A lot of my gear has come from there, including my SY85.

Once I was done paying for the SY85, I received a phone call later in the day
(i forget who it was) they called to make sure if I was aware of the floppy drive not working
and if it would be a deal breaker. I told them no problem, I can fix that (which I did).
They've always been chirpy on the phone and in emails, asking if there is ever any problems
with the item let them know asap. Good service all round.
