Thanks for that comparison.

I would not have called the keybed in the MODX "basic". It is better than other keyboards in the same price range and I find both the MODX7 and MODX8 really nice to play on.

The casing is plastic but it's well made and keeps the weight and cost down.

Having a wall wart psu is a double edged sword. On the one hand you have a lead that could be easily pulled out on stage...not good! But, it is also much easier and cheaper to replace should it fail. Also less heat generated inside the keyboard so perhaps that is also a plus?

Everything else is why you pay a premium for the Montage.

For the price and features I think Yamaha nailed it with the MODX.
