My SA pages

Unread post by balston11 » Mon Oct 01, 2018 3:08 pm

Over the last couple of weeks I have been reviewing and updating my SA pages more and better info on there. Discovered now that there are at least 5 SA models that were made both in Japan and Taiwan. As always any additional info etc very welcome.

As a recent owner of a SA-15, your site was invaluable in identifying my new find. Thank you so much. I got my hands on a parts list for SA-15 through 70 plus AE-11. I hope I'm posting this in the right place, but I was eager to share as I had not seen this document in my searches.

Cheers
Al

I have only had that document in my possession for the last 7 years and only posted specific pages. Never put it on my website in its entirety...

No objections from me. Given its obscurity, i'm sure Yamaha would be happy for the information to be available to all.

What is this then Bill?

MY guess is that someone put a new fretboard on...

Weird indeed I think your suggestion is probably right. Boards like that only appeared on the 950 and then the 2000s upwards.

Any chance someone has a wiring diagram for an SA-15? Or maybe something close.

Unfortunately, the wiring in mine was somewhat less than original.

Thanks

One of our members has emailed me and has bought this guitar when it arrives he's going to let me have more info about it and whether it looks like a replaced board. Either he will post here or I'll let you know.

Hi Bill,
Happy to share what I learn here.

When the guitar arrives I can compare it several SA's from the same generation.
Looking at the frets, inlays, binding, board itself and finish should be able to figure out if it is original or not.

Now the wait........

The SA 700 arrived today, had a quick look at it tonight.
It is a really pretty blonde and looks like a typical SA 700 except for the fretboard which is definitely ebony and inlays are MOP.

Won't be able to go over it in detail and compare it to some of my other SA's until the weekend.
I'll post detailed pics comparing them.

My initial thoughts though.......the ebony board looks like it was Yamaha made.
But it's late and I'm tired so will have to wait to be sure :confusion-shrug:
