Is this the best price for the Yamaha MODX at the moment?

Cheapest I have found so far is at GAK for £1299 but has anyone found it cheaper?

That’s the lowest I’ve seen until now (briefly €1466 at MusicStore Germany but back up to €1555).

And don't forget that PMT will always price price. They have always beaten any price that I have given them, including internet prices, so they got my business for my Kronos and Montage

I doubt you will see the MODX8 retail anywhere close to $1000. The MODX6 could possibly drop below that price but I am guessing not by much. I think it currently retails for around $1299 in the states?

Maybe if KORG or Roland bring out something competitive at NAMM there might be some movement but Yamaha do not generally discount by huge amounts, especially so soon after a product is released.

That’s what I’m thinking. Sub $1000 for MODX6 and, who knows, MODX7.
Got my Roland FA06 for $900 a few months after launch. Price went back up later, so I’m hoping for a similar MODX deal after NAMM.

There might be some deals just before and after Christmas...probably after. Not sure if it works the same in the states but in the UK we traditionally have the so called "January Sales" although in reality they begin on the 26th Dec and run to the end of Jan. There is usually some heavy discounting then. However as retailers have no problem shifting the MODX it could be that all the discounts are on other keyboards.

If KORG and Roland have new keyboards coming out this should be apparent by heaving discounting on existing stock of keyboards like the KORG KROME and Roland FA/DS series.

The only keyboard areas for Yamaha to tackle right now would be the entry level MX and the PSR/DGX series. I think stick a large screen on the MX, bring the wave rom up to date and make it more editable from the synth itself rather than needing to rely on third party software and it would sell like hot cakes! In other words, now we have Montage and MODX, take what was the MOXF and shoehorn it into the MX

I’m strategically positioning my coin to either get a Korg Kronos 3 or three lower priced Korg, Roland and Yamaha synths (ideally including a MODX).

I guess we will have to wait a few weeks and see if that 'KRONOS 3' appears. I did hear yesterday that KORG has a few things in the offing for NAMM so KRONOS 3 could well be one of them but more likely a replacement for KROME, perhaps along the same theme as MODX in being a cut down version of KRONOS. Either way I think you will have plenty of choices

£1,099

... from GAK. Not a return, not an open box, not b-stock. Brand new.

I saw it online and didn't believe it so went in to the store. Even the guy in the shop was like, wtf?!

He double checked. We concluded it was a deal over the Black Friday weekend.

It's full price again now.

To say I was pleased is an understatement
