That's quite a haul for those thieving gits. Can't imagine they would be able to sell to any stores so more likely either stolen to order or will be sold to people who know they are buying dodgy gear. If they are really dumb of course they will advertise in the classifieds.

NEVER leave your gear unattended!

As a Musician myself this REALLY UPSETS me.

Give me 5 minutes alone with them and "THIS HAMMER", and they'd never be able to pick up so much as a

cigarette paper for the rest of their miserable lives . . .

Same. Can't imagine how any genuine musician could steal someones gear or how anyone would want to use gear that was stolen. Still, I am sure it will all come back on them eventually :law-policeblue:

Whilst my heart really goes out to them for their lost kit ... leaving it all on open display in the back of a van is asking for trouble these days.

It may have been fine to do that a couple of years ago, but Europe is a different place now.
Cologne is not a safe place as you'll have heard in the news a couple of Christmases ago, and the last time I visited Bonn the atmosphere had changed out of recognition compared to the ten years I lived there.
I used to wander around alone in the dark in the winter months with never a thought for safety.
Today I would think twice about going out alone, even in the daylight.

Yes, all sadly true . . . .

One cannot ignore the presence of the "Drug culture", especially in Amsterdam . . . .

It creates an "enhanced" demand for Money . . . . .

Most towns and cities are like that these days. It is a reflection of how we have educated (or not) our young people and the way we have allowed authority to be eroded to the point where the police are now more of an annoyance than a deterrent. Parental control is next to non existent and teachers are treated with complete contempt. We have created a monster and there seems to be no way to contain it.

John is of course right. Given all we know it is madness to leave all your gear on display in the back of a van. Sure we then up blaming the victims but this is the reality we live in. We won't change the behaviour of the thief but we CAN change our own behaviour and that is what we need to do.

No, I'm not talking about the drug culture, nor am I talking about young people.
I'm talking about the influx of organised crime from the east, both eastern Europe and further afield, that has occured right across the European continent and into England.
Burglary is just a small part of it.

There is certainly an element of increased activity from eastern organised crime but they have always been in Europe. Open borders and Schengen saw to that. It is just as likely to be domestic grown crime though. Music gear is often a high ticket item and easy to move if they have the customers already lined up.

I read this just now. Any update on this story? Has anything been retrieved (other than the Philicorda)?
I can keep an eye out for the stolen synths.

Last I heard they had not got any of the gear back and people had been donating money to help them replace as much as possible.

It sounds like they did not have proper insurance but I am sure the same can be said of many bands and solo artists. It is usually not top of the list of things to do...until you get robbed of course!

I don't fault the band at all. The ONLY people responsible are the thieves. It is completely wrong to victimise the victims.

Keep up with the latest on their Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/klausjohanngrobe/
