Yamaha c/g 60a? Info about this model?

Unread post by jdm64 » Sat Jan 05, 2019 1:23 pm

Hello!

I'm new to the forum and new to classical and acoustic guitars in general, never had one. I stumbled across this thing in flea market and thought I'll pick it up because it was only 20 dollars :music-guitarred: It's probably a g60a (although the g letter is quite faded, but I doubt it's a C60A). I'm planning to keep this thing, needs a string change and action adjustment, but it sounds really nice and loud.

Is this a low end guitar or actually worth something? Perhaps anyone could help me out and shed some light about this model, what year it is and confirm whether it's a g series or c series?

Thank you!!

Hi jdm64. Welcome to the forums and the string section :) Also thanks for sharing those photos.

It is a G60A by the looks of it. So it would be an all laminate guitar built between 1969-1973

They were not expensive at the time because they were the entry level to the classical range. Still a nice guitar though and for $20 you can't really go wrong. A little cleaning, some new strings and looks like it's good to go!

As for value it's hard to say. I don't know if these guitars increased in value over the years but they were only about $80 when new however keep in mind that was 1969 and the equivalent value today would be around $500. Something to think about ;)

I agree with Saul. A G60A, production years 1969 and 1970 (the C60A had different sound hole inlays).

Look at this page from a 1970 US catalog showing a G60A, with a price tag of 59,95 usd.:
