THR10 and pedals

Unread post by 314159 »

As with any amp, you can use pedals with your THR5/10. See for example this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EInDHakFqW0

There is no Effects Loop in the THR5/10. But it seems possible to modify the THR to add one, see viewtopic.php?f=135&t=8197 or https://www.instructables.com/id/THR10- ... ification/

The THR10 has built-in effects: distortion, chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, delay, reverbs, noise gate, compressor...

I now use a CryBaby 535Q with my THR10 and enjoy it: there is six wah frequency ranges, a volume control and a boost switch, and a variable Q control.

Do you use pedals with your THR ? Which ones and why ?

Hello, i use Patchbox68.

Its custom made and works as a preset library like you would have in your editor on your pc...its a programmable footswitch for the THR 5 /10/x/c

Very pleased with it...

Its a very handy tool, in fact you have now 100 presets ready for your thr...i only put 40 or so on mine...still playing around with it...

Here is some screenshots, as i am not allowed to post links..
You can find it on you tube or on their website, just google Patchbox68.
Its a very kind man who makes them, and he is from Canada.

It looks VERY cool, making a library available without a computer, so here's some tube clips to show the functions.

Yes, it looks cool, but $225 is more than 2/3 of the THR10 price...Sure it must be more practical on stage than a PC, but for that price we could find a small notebook...

Unfortunately, as of today, this guy has ceased manufacture of this pedal. See his Facebook page - search for Patchbox68 on FB. Which I was rather sad to read about because I've only just joined the legion of THR owner/users having had a THR5A as a Christmas present. Been wanting one for ages.

Bummer … :?

It wasn't on the very top of my wish list, but absolutely a piece of kit I would like to get my hands on.

Sad, that Patchbox is not manufactured any more.

But it is easy to build a similar one yourself:

github. com/MathisRosenhauer/THR_Footswitch

or better:

w w w. mehlbrandt . de/thr/thr_1.html

I had built a prototype of an even better solution for myself using the Arduino Due:

My solution could not only send patches, but understood and viewed all the parameter changes and sorted patch uploads in groups.
This was, because with the Patchbox-like solutions one had to step through all 99 patches with one foot switch to get to the right patch.
In addition I had a "solo" switch to increase volume / use a special patch for soloing during a song.

But now I sold my old THR10 and bought a THR30II - so my work has to start almost at the beginning, because THR30II's MIDI-SysEx-structure is completely different.

You should know, that Patchbox68 and the pedals linked above would not work for the new series of THRs. Perhaps that's the reason, the manufacturer of Patchbox68 gave up.
