SY77 favorite sounds?

Yamaha SY77 is a 16 voice multitimbral music workstation first produced by Yamaha Corporation in 1989. The SY77 is a synthesizer whose architecture combines AFM (Advanced Frequency Modulation) synthesis, AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) for ROM-borne sample-based synthesis, and the combination of these two methods christened Realtime Convolution and Modulation Synthesis (RCM).

Hi Derek, you said you replaced the contact switches of your TG77. Where do you get those ‘spare parts’?
I’ve been looking on the web for contact switches for my SY77 (and would love to replace the ‘exit’ button itself since the white text almost disappeared) but could not find any adres where to order those kind of parts ...
Thanks for tips!

Hi Michiel D,

here is an Omron example how to determine the switch(es) you need to replace those not working properly anymore:
The housing dimensions are 6x6 mm, but what's important is the overall height! See the arrow showing the different available heights (housing plus plunger). For the height needed you'll have to measure one of those tactile switches of your synth!

This is how those switches look:

(just copy & paste the above to your browser's address line and press Enter)

There are also other brands out there offering this type of switches...
My (key related) gear (in alphabetical order):
Ferrofish: B4000+
Kawai: K1 II
Korg: M1 (up'd to EX, w/ 'Cool Blue'), M1REX (w/ 'Cool Blue'), Poly-800
Roland: D-50, D-110, D-550, PG-1000
Yamaha: AW1600, DX7IID (w/ 'Cool Blue'), EX5R, RM50, RX5, SY99 (w/ 'Cool Blue'), TG500,
TX-802, YMM2
Sector101: SYEMB05 (5x), SYEMB06 (3x), EXFLM2 (1kit), MCD Sweet16 (1x), DataBlade32 (1x),
WaveBlade 8MB Card (1x) & 1x Programmer Unit for WaveBlade

I ordered mine from eBay several years back, based on a recommendation given on this forum. Whilst I was not planning to do the upgrade a the time, I thought I would grab them whilst they were available.

The original seller does not seem to have them now, but if you search for:
100Pcs PCB Momentary Tactile Tact 6x6x4.5mm Panel Push Button 4Pin Switch
You'll find plenty of suppliers. And 4.5mm is fine for the TG77.

The Sound Source Source Unlimited Disks for SY77/99 that are sold by Greytsounds are those programmed by Dave Polich (most of them, IIRC) and a couple by Bob Frey.

For a myriad of reasons I pulled all my SSU DX/TX/SY voicebanks from distribution when Greytsounds acquired the assests of Sound Source.

I have noticed that some of them have turned up on internet collections over the years, and one of these days I'll get around to uploading them here and to the SY Facebook group.

That would be handy. postage for a box of disks (or anything for that matter) from the US to Aus is extortion and paying for the discs
to be emailed to you wont happen because ebay Australia (nanny state) wont allow the distribution of even legitimate material
purchased through them because it'll circumvent the commission on the postage ( that's my tin foil hat theory) citing piracy
prevention as an excuse and block any messages containing email addresses or phone numbers.
