Issue with Remote app on Win10

Hello all together,

since yesterday I own a brand new THR30. Regarding the Yamaha's information to update the firmware first I installed the remote app on my Win10 Notebook. Installation works fine, but when I wanna open the app nothings happened. 8O

First there was no error message or anything else - only nothing happened. When I opened the task manager no information about the app.

Has anyone the same problem? What to do?

Do you use the correct USB cable as mentioned by the manual?

Hello Peter,

I didn't use any cable. Just tried to open the app without connection - a dry run.

Does your question eventually mean that I cant open the app without a THR connected?

I always have the cable connected. So I don't know, if the app crashes without. I try later...

On my Win10 Notebook the app does not crash, if not connected. I have version 1.1.0 of the THR remote app installed.

Also die "App" THR-Remote auf Windows 10 sollte schon starten und ein sichtbares Fenster erzeugen, auch dann wenn kein USB-Kabel angeschlossen ist.
Allerdings versucht sie dann, eine Verbindung zum THRII aufzubauen, was ihr nicht gelingen wird, wenn keiner angeschlossen ist.
Daher wird oben rechts ein USB-Symbol blinken.
Falls es so weit nicht kommt, dann stimm was mit der Installation des Programms nicht.

Englisch:
THR-Rmeote should open without a USB cable and a THRII connected. It will not manage to establish a sync with the THRII of course. So the USB symbol in the upper right keeps flashing slowly.
If you don't see a window at all, the instatllation of THR-Remote seems to have gone wrong.

Thanks Martin, Peter,

the Problem stays the same - with or without THR connected.

I've got a Error message that app stopped working. But without that the app opened before. I have several apps for different Amps or floorboards - no Problem. But the THR remote app doesn't work.

First time I installed the App I could see the uninstall exe in the App list. After unistalling the app and reinstallation I only see the App button not the uninstall button - crazy!? Uninstall exe only can be found in the explorer and it works.

Not sure what has happened but maybe there is a serious problem with firewall settings?

Can anyone help with that?

Win10 is up to date.

We can only guess as well.

Try to unconnect THRII, uninstall THR-Remote app and driver. If you cant't find the uninstaller use "absolute uninstaller" or something like less (be sure to avoid installing the ad-ware, that comes with programs like this, though).
After that: reboot windows and install the latest Yamaha/Steinberg USB-driver for the THRII (perhaps reboot again).
Plug in THRII an try, if you can stream some music from PC to THRII.
If it works, try to install latest THR-Remote and be sure to check any message that comes while installing it.

Hi,

this is one of the frustrating Moments. Can't find a solution for my problem.

- Uninstalled THR Remote App
- installed Steinberg driver
- installed App
- Opened app with and without THR connected

Nothing helps. :(

Connection via USB allows playing Music from PC to THR - works fine.
THR was detected by PC and shows Amp in Device drivers.

Don't know what to do. Maybe I try another PC or my wifes Mac. But this is my Main Notebook and I need to work with this.

Any other ideas?

Very strange indeed.
Perhaps install "as administrator"?
Or disable your virus scanner for a moment?
Or run app in Win 8.1 compatibility mode?
Update Windows, especially .NET-Framework.

DO check in <device manager> WHAT driver is installed for your device . . .

Yamaha/Steinberg drivers are very fussy about correct installation.

I would UNINSTALL the existing driver in <device manager> first, and then repeat the Y/S driver installation,

following the instructions very closely . . . .

See if that sorts the problem out?

yes, I uninstalled the Driver and installed the latest version without any problem. But at the moment I get tired of try it again and again. This is one of the lifetime killing events I absolutely hate.

Installed app on a Mac and did the FW update without any issues.

So my major action is done.

Maybe I come back later if I try again to install on my notebook.

I believe you speak for Many in here who have come up against the SAME problem . . . .

To my knowledge there has never been a response from Y/S admitting there IS a problem . . . .
