Battery holder for yamaha - How I did mine - SY77

Yamaha SY77 is a 16 voice multitimbral music workstation first produced by Yamaha Corporation in 1989. The SY77 is a synthesizer whose architecture combines AFM (Advanced Frequency Modulation) synthesis, AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) for ROM-borne sample-based synthesis, and the combination of these two methods christened Realtime Convolution and Modulation Synthesis (RCM).

Battery holder for yamaha - How I did mine - SY77

Unread post by Rara »

I have seen a lot of crazy yet well thought out ideas for replacing the
soldered in battery on yamaha boards for one in a holder.

I have changed one of mine over with the typical type found in stores and fit to the existing holes
on the main board.
the original in case no one has seen it ....

Once I had removed the original from the main board I prised of the bottom tab.

I bent the negative pin over on on the holder and bit by bit cut down the original batterys tab (seen in the left of picture) and test fit it under the bent over tab on the holder until there was a 15.2mm space between the two pins.

Once I was happy with the spacing I soldered the old tab to the new holder.

test fit and solder to the main board.
