new (to me) SY99! 1.33 vs 1.40 firmware question

new (to me) SY99! 1.33 vs 1.40 firmware question

Unread post by capacitor »

Hey, all! I got my SY99 back in action (the usual LCD backlight issue, and did a volume fader replacement). Now I can hear it in action. I checked the ROM version and it's at 1.33.

I'm not planning on working with sampling or importing samples on this unit, rather simply pulling in patches that use the factory ones, and experimenting with my own.

Was there anything important that Yamaha fixed that wasn't sampling related, going from 1.33 to 1.40?

Hi.

Congratulations on getting this fine machine back to life.

Other than my EX5 when the ROMS were available, I have never bothered with OS version updates on the older synths that you can only upgrade by ROM/EPROM swaps, as the updates were usually minor revisions for obscure problems. If you are not seeing any issues, I would not worry about it.

It's a little different these days as quite often upgrades are adding new features, but of course they are far easier to do!
