Based on the PSR-S series, the SX series models have been completely redesigned and come with a wide array of exciting new features for even more playing, composition and songwriting possibilities.
Upgrading from the SX900...There's no more Piano Ballad style on the SX920...
The bossa nova style is distinct
You can no longer assign mic reverb level to the Live Control knobs. That's weird.
The resonator guitars are cool, but like the pedal steel, just the bottom note bends when you use the pitch bend wheel.
Lots of new, very cool voices. You can take a lifetime exploring this keyboard in depth.
I wish I had a Cakewalk Instrument Definition file.

As for the Piano Ballad Style it can always be loaded externally. For example just copy it from the previous model and paste it on the usb then copy it from usb and paste it in the user drive
Just thought I'd mention. In the excitement of getting a very new keyboard you might want to check the s/w build level.
Mine arrived with version 1.00.

Hello Richkeys. Sorry, I should have said firmware build level.
If you press the Menu key, select Menu2 and then Utility, and then chose System it will give you the Version number at the top of the screen. My SX920 showed v1.00.
The v1.10 file is dated 10th September but I guess the dealer didnt get a chance to perform the update before shipping my unit.
Its available to download from the Yamaha site with a separate file for instructions on how to perform the update. It is pretty straightforward.

Hopefully you get them in as soon as possible. (Suggestion) Whenever you get both SX-920 and 720 in can you do an unboxing video on YouTube. I would love to see it unboxed in your store.
I think about that each time a new kb comes in; definitely thought about it a lot for G2. But then I don't know *what* to do other than the unboxing... show me noodling around on them? for 5 minutes? 20? an hour?
I watch a lot of youtube, and other than for *toys* (like self transforming Optimus Prime) I have not watched any unboxing videos myself (except one where he had to build the keyboard), so I don't know what to *do* myself, for an unboxing video.
I've thought about it each time. G1, s970, sx900, G2... but my impatience gets the better of me and I just wanna dig in!
cool. It’s always fun to unbox new keyboards but like said if you ever decide to do a video just dig in
I couldn't resist. It arrived today and I just opened it, trying it out now
Apparently I have 0 willpower to delay playing new keyboards
