Let's lighten up a bit, we are a bit over a month before Christmas.
I have enough gear and really don't need or want more keyboards or any 'audio tool' (as Florian would say )
But I really need an audio mixer, and this is probably going into Santa's sack.
I want to at least connect:
- Montage
- SY77
- GAIA2
- TR-8S
- SP-404MKii
And sometimes the guitar and anything else that may pass around here I am looking at the Yamaha MG series and some Mackie consoles.
So have you thought your Christmas presents yet?
Yamaha Montage 6 / Yamaha MODX6+ / Yamaha P515WH
Roland GAIA2 / Roland TR-8S / Roland JX-08 + k25m
Arturia Keystep 37 / Roland SP-404 mkII / Yamaha SY77
Yamaha HS7 / Yamaha HS4 / Yamaha Pacifica 112VM
I am not sure there is anything I need. I just bought a new Mac Mini M4 which I am very happy with
I had been thinking about new monitors but not really decided yet. My Behringer USB 50 monitors are ok and certainly loud enough but I do think they are not quite refined enough for my ears. It is not really a "need" though, more of a "want".
I could also be persuaded to buy another acoustic guitar but again it is a want rather than need.
I have to weight up the fact that I want to replace our diesel car with an EV at some point, a used one I should add, so money out of the pot on things I don't need right now is probably not money well spent

As I was saying on the other thread this M4 mini is the most amazing 'synth' right now.
I already have a Mini M2 and an Air M3, otherwise I would definitely get one.
And yes, I am also moving out of the 'wants' territory. At this point it's more like finding the time to enjoy what I already have than getting more.
I will upgrade my Roland cloud subscription to ultimate at the end of the year (when my pro subscription ends). It probably has anything I want and sounds wonderful with the SY77 as the controller.
I will be reorganizing my space so bits and pieces like cables and stands are on the list. And the mixer as I mentioned above.

I sold my M2 Mac Mini last week to help fund the M4. There was nothing wrong with the M2 but the M4 has the extra memory being 16GB as standard as opossed to the 8GB for the M2 base model and of course, the new M4 chip is always good to have. It will certainly handle anything I would want to do over the next couple of years at least
I use most things I have on a daily basis with the exception of my controller keyboard and actually you just reminded me, that is something I do want to replace. I want something with weighted keys as I play acoustic piano most of the time. I can play piano on this but it never feels right. So yeah, new/used keyboard and maybe monitors

mhm.. I hear you... Christmas is always a good excuse to gift ourselves, because "I need" doesn't always work
I hope stores will join with some nice offerings, which would give additional push

I am watching Thomann even more closely now (also for black Friday offers) and waiting on Steinberg to see if I will get the Cubase 14 upgrade at a better price.
And just scored ( ) a yearly chordify premium plus tools sub for 12 euros. Not bad at all.

Santa has come early this year (I must have been especially good ), leaving me a PolyBrute12, but he is a little late delivering the Muse - yes, extravagant, but I couldn't decide between the two, and with my RRINGHHOAMOMI (Rachel Reeves Is Not Getting Her Hands On Any More Of My Income) policy I decided to go for both, replacing my SY99 and AN1x!
I've cleaned the chimney so Santa can arrive without being to dirty.
Hopefully he brings a thing starting with K and ends with 6.
If not this year, so maybe the successor another year.....
Cheers & Happy Playing.

A Roland R-8 came to me
I've had little time to acquaint myself with it.
I dont need any more VST's, unless Cherry pulls another rabbit out of the hat.
The only thing my studio really needs is some westons vintage cider

I will definitely need to replace my monitors at some point. I need something small and not expensive so I was looking at the IK Multimedi iLoud Mini. But I am open to suggestions

Just curious.. what monitors you have now and what for they're used (for PC only)?
Bogdan
I have been using Behringer USB-50 monitors for the past couple of years. They are "ok" but not really that nuanced in their delivery. But then again they didn't cost a fortune.
I don't mix anything. My needs are more to do with video editing and general listening to music. But I also run softsynths through them.
Size is an issue. The footprint needs to be small. Genelec's would have been the right size but they are way too expensive for my needs. So something the size of the 8010A but at a lower cost.

Thanks for answering, Saul
Yes, I totally get the size/footprint issue. In this case (no matter what specs say), I agree with you and would get iLoud Mini (instead of much more expensive 8010A).
We all know that with a 3" woofer we can't expect wonders, no matter who the manufacturer is -that is, they will sound pretty much the same at the same condition. I actually prefer iLoud Mini in this case, because of front bass opening.
