Hello friends, im new here. I need help about my Yamaha PSR-400 too.

Fews days ago I bought a MIDI to USB cable. I plug the cable midi in to in, midi out to out and the USB to computer. Drivers has been installed automatically.

When i open Fl Studio, it sees it but not working. When i try to change ports blue LED on cable is blinking but nothing else.

Im a student and in my country midi keyboards are very expensive so i have to connect PSR 400 to computer.

I have Windows 10 and Fl Studio, I dont have ext. audio card. I'm gonna try on Cubase too but I think same issue will happen. Still after I try, I'll write here.

What can I do for? Please help me.

Love & peace
Cannur.

Hello Cannur, welcome to the forums :)

Can you tell us which MIDI to USB cable you have bought? It would help in trying to resolve the problem.

You said FL Studio can see the MIDI input of your keyboard?

In System Settings in FL Studio. I assume you have chosen USB Audio Device (generic controller) where it says "controller type". It is a drop-down menu. Once selected it needs to be "enabled"

I am sure you are familiar with FL Studio though so you have probably already done this?

Hello and welcome. You do not say what USB to MIDI cable you have, but beware that whilst there are good ones there, there are also ones that are complete rubbish.

Do tell us which USB/MIDI interface that you have, and we can go from there.

But also, the one problem I can see in your post, is that you say you have connected MIDI IN to IN and MIDI OUT to OUT. If that is what you have done then that is not correct. You need to wire MIDI in a "crossover" arrangement. You should connect MIDI OUT to MIDI IN in one direction (e.g. interface to keyboard) and MIDI IN to MIDI OUT in the other direction (e.g. MIDI IN to MIDI OUT) in the other direction.

I was going to say the same thing as Derek about IN to OUT and OUT to IN.

It seems so intuitive that you should connect like to like: Connect A to A and B to B, put the red plug in the red jack and the white plug in the white jack, etc.

But with MIDI you need to do it backwards, which is completely counterintuitive. If you think of the labeled ends of the MIDI plugs of the interface cable as though they were the MIDI ports on another device, and think about how the data should be flowing, then it starts to make a bit more sense, although it's still counterintuitive:

You want the MIDI to go OUT of the keyboard and go IN the other device (in this case, the interface cable).

And you want any MIDI coming back to go OUT of the other device and go IN the keyboard.

So you need to connect the keyboard's MIDI OUT to the other device's (interface's) MIDI IN, and connect the other device's (interface's) MIDI OUT to the keyboard's MIDI IN.

Hello. First of all thank you for attentions and responses. It is nice to be here.

I figure out that and I switched the IN to OUT, OUT to IN.

I re-installed the Device. (I remove USB drivers, and re-installed again)

I set the Enable from FL Studio. (I also tried in Cubase)

But still no sound.

I try to send you images from cable and Fl Studio's Midi Settings but forum doesn't let me do it.

What should I do? Or is it from cable? :(

Thank you.
Peace and love.

Finally! It's work. Not on Fl Studio. It works on Cubase. I just choose USB A from Inspector panel and it worked

Thank you so much! I wish you all have a great days. :)
