NAMM 2014: ROLI Seaboard GRAND Making Its NAMM Show Debut
ROLI, a ground-breaking music technology startup based in London, will be exhibiting at the NAMM Show for the first time. They will be presenting their Seaboard GRAND, a new musical instrument that has attracted a great deal of attention in musician and tech communities, as well as the press. The NAMM Show is the world’s largest trade-only event for the music products industry. It is held every January in Anaheim, CA, and this year’s dates are Thursday, January 23th to Sunday, January 26th.
Seaboard GRAND
This instrument, dubbed “The Piano of the Future” by CNN, reimagines the piano keyboard as a soft, continuous, pressure-sensitive surface. For the first time ever, you can perform on a standard musical keyboard layout while controlling pitch, volume, timbre and more – all in real time – without ever having to reach for a dial, wheel or knob. The Seaboard’s polyphonic pitch bend, vibrato and per-note dynamic changes are all available at your fingertips, combining the intuitiveness of playing a traditional instrument with the versatility offered by digital technology.
The Seaboard GRAND product line has been exclusively available through the ROLI website for 3 months, and has already generated pre-order sales from people in 43 countries, from the US to Japan, Russia to Brazil. It has also been praised by a wide range of musicians, including Hans Zimmer, Oscar-winning film composer of The Lion King, Gladiator and Inception. ROLI plans to announce its first retail and software partners at NAMM.
ROLI will be exhibiting at booth 407, 3rd floor, at the entrance of Lounge 88. There will be Seaboard demonstrations from specialist Heen-Wah Wai throughout the show, artist performances from Grammy-nominated keyboard phenom Cory Henry of the Brooklyn-based band Snarky Puppy, and a special musical event with iconic musical instrument designer Roger Linn and ROLI CEO Roland Lamb following partnership announcements on Saturday, January 25, at 2pm.
