Steinberg is set to retire its eLicenser license management system on May 20, 2025. This move marks the completion of the transition to the modern, software-based Steinberg Licensing system that has been underway since 2022.

Benefits of the Steinberg Licensing System

Customers have already begun reaping the benefits of the new Steinberg Licensing system, which simplifies license activation and eliminates the need for a physical USB-eLicenser dongle. This user-friendly system allows a single-user license to operate on up to three computers, offering greater flexibility and convenience.

Transition and Support for eLicenser-Based Products

To ensure a smooth changeover, Steinberg has provided various options and offers to help users shift from eLicenser-based products to the new system. Even after the eLicenser system is shut down, Steinberg will continue to support updates and upgrades for products tied to registered eLicensers. Additionally, eLicenser-based software will remain functional as long as the licenses are available on either the USB-eLicenser or Soft-eLicenser.

A Message from Steinberg’s Managing Director

Clyde Sendke, Managing Director of Steinberg, shared his thoughts on the transition: “Over several years, we have kept our customers informed about the development of a new licensing system. With the successful rollout of Steinberg Licensing, the time is now approaching to conclude the transitional phase from the old eLicenser system.”
