Ummet Ozcan Genesis Pro First Look
In a world of ever-cheaper, more powerful music hardware, and software instruments how do you stand out from the crowd? Ummet Ozcan, the brains behind Genesis Pro seems to have the answer.
First, develop a software synth that allows sound designers to create any sound they can think of. Next give people are super easy to use interface and make it look like something you would definitely like to get hands-on with. And finally, put it on sale at a price even the most impoverished musician can afford. With an entry fee of just ONE EURO…welcome to Genesis Pro!
Combining subtractive, FM, Phase Distortion and MultiWave and Rom Synthesis along with 3 very powerful oscillators that can be used independently or simultaneously Genesis Pro allows you to create a huge variety of sounds.
The catch, if you can call it that is you will only get to use this software if you are running Windows. And it is only 32 bit. For now anyway. It seems there may be plans to port it to Mac and 64 bit but given the complexity of that task, it could be some way off.
Anyway, let’s hear from the man himself. Ummet Ozcan.
Personally, I think that is a lot of synth for just one euro. Yes, it will not currently run on a Mac and it is 32bit which I must admit I find a bit odd given that we are well past the point where 64bit was unusual. But let’s just look at it as a “work in progress”. I am sure if everything goes to plan and Genesis Pro is a success there will be no end of investors willing to help foot the bill to port it to Mac and 64bit.
