Washburn Commemorates 135 Years As One Of Americas Oldest Guitar Brands With Revival Series RSD135-D
Washburn are one of Americas oldest guitar brands and are celebrating their 135 year anniversary with the introduction of the limited edition Revival Series RSD135-D.
Washburn has built 135 commemorative limited edition models based on its 1937 5246 Dreadnought. These 135 instruments will be serialized starting from year 1883 and ending with year 2018.
The Washburn Revival Series Solo Dreadnought 135th Anniversary (RSD135-D) is made in the U.S.A. at Washburn’s custom shop and features a body shape resulting from a direct tracing of the 1937 #5244 Solo Dreadnought. Sonically, the 135 is a loud, rich guitar benefi ting from its Solid Sitka Spruce with scalloped-X “Moonwood” European Spruce bracing paired with African Mahogany, as well as its bone nut and saddle. Cosmetically it draws inspiration from the original #5244/5246 with a Washburn “smile” bridge, Revival ’30s style headstock and Solo Dreadnought tortoise pickguard. Optimizing player comfort was considered on the 135 pairing this vintage creation with a modern narrow-C shaped neck and Graphtech Ratio-Tuned tuning machines.
