Yamaha P-515

Yamaha have just introduced another addition to their popular P Series compact digital pianos in the form of the P-515.

I am a big fan of any attempt to provide a more natural feeling set of keys on modern keyboards and Yamaha have not disappointed with the P-515. They have used what they call a NWX keyboard which features white keys made from the best quality wood which is then topped with a synthetic ivory. The black keys are finished in textured synthetic ebony. To further add to the realism the keyboard features the feel of an escapement mechanism that you would normally find in a grand piano and which moves the hammers away from the strings quickly after they strike them, thus preventing any interference with string vibration.

The best feature as far as I am concerned though is not only all of the above but also the inclusion of high quality piano sounds captured from Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand as well as from one of my favourite acoustic pianos of all time, the Viennese Bösendorfer Imperial grand. Yamaha won me at the mention of the name ‘Bösendorfer’!

There are of course many other features that make the P-515 stand out such as Yamaha’s ‘Enhanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)’, a powerful onboard speaker system and the ability to Customise the Sounds and the touch response of the piano voices via the ‘Piano Room’ function.

The P-515 also features Bluetooth audio for wireless listening. This means you can connect your music player, iPhone etc via Bluetooth and instantly turn your P-515 into a high-quality speaker system.

The P-515 has two colour options on offer, black or white and is available now from your local Yamaha dealer.
